In 2 weeks on Feb. 21st, 10:00-11:30 a.m. (18:00 - 19:30 GMT)
DNA Special Interest Group of Ventura County Genealogical Society
will present the Family Tree Surname Project by Jim McAuley, Admin of the Macaulay Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, will explain what the Family Tree DNA Surname Projects are.
He will show us how he joined his group and where this collaborative effort has taken him on his journeys through the many family branches of the surname MacAulay.
Learn the tips and techniques Jim uses when searching name variations and reaching out to distant cousins.
And, he will review some of the successful genetic confirmations in the project.

BigY Success #998, part 2: Walter MacAulay is the first member of the DNA project with a documented connection to the last Macaulay Clan Chief. Aulay MacAulay of Ardencaple was a witness at Walter's 6th great grand aunt's Baptism in Glasgow on the 25th of September 1712

Walter Macaulay, former secretary of Clan MacAulay, and his son Walter both took the FTDNA BigY test and they have confirmed a SNP for their family in Greenock, Scotland ~1908.

Seaside High Games in Ventura, CA are this weekend.
There will be DNA and Genealogy tables by the Southern California and Ventura County Genealogical Societies at the games in the Anacapa Hall Saturday and Sunday.

This has been a good year for confirming genealogy and ancestral origins through the combination of brothers or close cousins taking the BigY along with autosomal DNA tests. We have been able to provide 19th and 20th century genealogically relevant locations and family connections. This is the current MacAulay Surname Project M222 SNP tree.
