We provide an Indigenous framework supporting the growing number of Hispanics embracing their indigeneity, based on the initial instructions from our ancestors on how to survive and thrive – community first, the value of relationships, respect for ancestors and elders, and our responsibility to restore balance to Mother Earth. We strive to unite human-kind in seeking ancestral knowledge for the sake of our continued survival.

A Halloween costume may last one night. The stereotypes it reinforces last much longer.

Dressing up as a “Native American,” wearing imitation regalia, or turning Native identity into a character is not appreciation. Indigenous peoples are not costumes, stereotypes, or figures from the past. We are living peoples, cultures, communities, and nations.

This Halloween, choose creativity without turning someone else’s identity into a disguise.

Learn. Listen. Share. And when you see harmful stereotypes, speak up.

We carried the songs into the arena. We honored those who came before us and welcomed the next generation.

To the dancers, singers, drum groups, elders, families, vendors, volunteers, and everyone who helped carry the 2026 Sacred Springs Powwow: thank you.

Join us October 3–4 for the 2026 Sacred Springs Powwow in San Marcos, Texas.
Come together for two days of dance, drums, culture, community, and celebration. We look forward to welcoming dancers, singers, families, relatives, and visitors back to the Sacred Springs.

The 2026 Sacred Springs Powwow is moving indoors!

SMCISD High School Student Activity Center

Next to Rattler Stadium

Parking is available at the new location. No shuttle is needed.
