Folk Fest 2026 was a success. Our chapter had many visitors to our display table, which included artifacts and a lot of historical information. Chapter President Stan Trull and VP Robert Duckworth were dressed in period clothing and were able to fire their antique weapons with Spanish Granaderos.

Congratulations to Angelina Prentice, our Chapter Essay winner who placed 1st in the State of Texas for her essay on medicine in the American Revolution. She will be attending UT Austin this fall as a pre-med major. This summer, her essay will compete for the national award essay award. Also pictured are her father, Carlos, Chapter President Stan Trull (in colonial attire) and Youth Awards Chairman Will Moravits.

Our guest speaker, Kate Johnson, told us the life story of Samuel T. Washington, the grand nephew of George Washington. Samuel donated George's sword and Benjamin Franklin's cane (pictured) to Congress. He died in Hays County and is buried in Kyle Cemetery. Presenting Ms. Johnson with a certificate of appreciation and the chapter coin are President Stan Trull (L) and Secretary Will Moravits (R).
