Join LCSLO at the Lower San Luis Obispo Creek Floodplain Preserve to remove junk from the creek! In this case, junk not only includes trash, but invasive cape ivy. This plant spreads quickly and takes over our beautiful native vegetation. LCSLO has been managing cape ivy for multiple years and could use your help continuing that effort! SLO Creek is home to many floral and faunal species that will greatly benefit from a day's worth of clean-up.

More information about the specific meeting location will be sent to you before the day of the event. Bring your preferred sun protection, water bottle, gloves, and wear pants.

Terrain will be mostly flat through unpaved roads of orchards and work will not involve getting in the water.
In the event of rain, this event will be canceled.

Celebrate the important conservation and restoration work that Creek Lands Conservation is leading in our local watersheds this Thursday at the Octagon Barn! Your ticket includes food, drinks, live music and engaging conversation focused on SLO Creek resiliency and rewilding!

Creek Lands Conservation is excited to host our biggest event of the year, the State of the SLO Creek Watershed, to celebrate our community's collective efforts to restore San Luis Obispo Creek!

With generous support from the Harold J. Miossi Charitable Trust, Creek Lands scientists and educators have collaborated over the past 3 years with local stakeholders and partners to develop the SLO Creek Resiliency and Rewilding Action Plan. This is a strategic roadmap for impactful restoration in the SLO Creek watershed, home to native and endangered wildlife and cherished by our local community.

Come hear about key findings as we highlight current work in the watershed, and learn about what’s next for a resilient and thriving SLO Creek. The SLO Creek R&R Action Plan sets the foundation for future restoration work — come find out where we’re headed and how you can stay involved!

Following short presentations and a panel discussion, stick around for a celebration including beer and wine, a food truck, live music, and a silent auction. Space is limited — register today!: https://my805tix.com/e/watershed

We can’t wait to celebrate SLO Creek with you!

Every fall, male tarantulas wander in search of burrows with females and their nests that they have prepared for just such a visitor. September and October are peak times to see them on their journeys in brushy areas with sandy soil. Join us as we search for these eight-legged wanderers on a free, family-friendly 3 mile hike over varied terrain at our Santa Rita Ranch!

This Indigenous People’s Day we are honored to highlight our valued partnership with yak titʸu titʸu yak tiłhini Northern Chumash Tribe (ytt Tribe). We recognize and celebrate their legacy and history on the lands we now work tirelessly to protect. Projects like the Pismo Preserve could not have happened without their trust and partnership.

We are grateful for ytt’s work preserving and passing down their rich history and culture. Learn more about their tribe and ways we are working together to protect and restore their ancestral homelands at https://yttnorthernchumashtribe.com

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
-Jane Goodall, 1934-2025 🌿🐒

We gratefully honor the life and legacy of Jane Goodall, a pioneer and a tireless champion for our planet. May her gentle wisdom and fierce dedication to wildlife conservation inspire us all to live with compassion and purpose.

Earlier this year The Land Conservancy completed a conservation easement on the 890 acre Adelaida Springs Ranch in northwest SLO County. This successful transaction ensures the ranch is protected from development and subdivision into perpetuity. Thank you to the SLO Tribune for sharing our story and the story of the Foshay family who made this happen!

A conservation easement will block future development on the property.
