Sunday was a busy day at El Chorro Dog Park. Members of the California Conservation Corps (CCCs) recently returned from assisting fire crews with the Big Sur fires, came out to the large dog park to help with various chores. They spread wood chips, moved accumulated dirt and debris away from the front fenceline and entry ports to assist in flood control measures, and they weathersealed all the park benches, including the small dog park. Many thanks are extended to Daryl Plauck for washing all the benches a few days before in preparation for the weatherseal. The CCCs also established a new seating area with pavers.
The CCCs have assisted us with the park for the last 14 years or more. Please join SLO-4-PUPS in a big shout-out and thank you to the CCCs.
Many thanks are also extended to our park volunteers who helped guide and work with the CCCs, Addie Barkley, and Fred Cheda. Thanks are also extended to everyone who came a little early to help with setup (tools, refreshments, etc). Jacki, a new volunteer, was unstoppable and assisted with weathersealing park benches, and major thanks are extended to Rachelle LaPan for cleaning out our storage shed. Everything was taken out, cleaned, and sorted. All of the shelving was washed, and once dried, everything was put back in the shed. It was a big job, and many thanks are extended to those who assisted Rachelle in the four hour project!
Kathy Kimball installed our banner announcing the 25th Anniversary Celebration on November 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All are welcome. It's time to celebrate El Chorro Dog Park, the first dog park to be established in SLO County!
