Enormous thanks to the girl scouts from Girl Scout Service unit 452, Troop # 45216, and their families; for helping to place American flags on the Veterans graves at San Luis Obispo and Mission cemeteries. We were also joined by a couple of Cub Scouts and their families, several Veterans from our Post, and Legion Sons. It was sn amazing turnout. Hopefully, we'll get as many to return at 3pm on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th, to pick them all up again. 😁

December Newsletter for Post 66.
Having challenges with post66slo website. Post 66 will be dark until January 6, 2025 when we'll welcome the new year with our Monday Social. Hoping to get a handle on the website in time to post the January newsletter. Until then, here is our latest and greatest news.

Eat To Support American Legion Post 66! On Wednesday, July 31st from 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Dave's Hot Chicken at 299 Madonna Rd is donating back 20% of sales from Dine-In, Takeout, Drive thru & Pick up orders to American Legion Post 66!

Why we're raising: American Legion Post 66 has been on the Central Coast since 1923 and is comprised of Veterans, and family members of Veterans that raise money for programs that support Veterans and their family members in need, as well as providing scholarships for High School students. We also have a medical equipment program that provides veterans in need with wheelchairs, power chairs and other medical assist items. We have a strong collaborative network of other Veteran support organizations that enables us to extend our assistance beyond our own members, and all money raised helps us continue our outreach all year long.

We hope you can join us in eating out for a good cause!
Wear your American Legion cap, service branch ball cap, or patriotic red, white & blue to get a ticket to win a special "Locals" gift basket with specialty goods found on the Central Coast.

Good Morning! If you're awake and have some time this morning, start your Memorial Weekend off right by joining American Legion Post 66, as we place American Flags on the gravesites of Veterans to remember their service and sacrifice. We're meeting at the San Luis Cemetery, 2890 South Higuera Street; at 9am and splitting up to cover that cemetery, the Civil War side on Elks Lane (with the Pyramid) and the Old Mission Cemetery at 101 Bridge Street.

For those who might not know, Today, March 29th, is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The 5th anniversary of the establishment of this day by President Obama. Thank you for all those who served during the Vietnam War, and please take a few moments out of your day to remember and honor all those who didn't make it home and whose names are etched forever in black granite in Washington, D.C. Thank you to the Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum for hosting a Memorial coffee break today. Lovely event.
