Well folks it looks like we are coming back! If you can help out the new range management in an way I urge you to do so.
If you didn't get this email, here's the latest news:
SLO Shooting Range Update
To all the supporters of the San Luis Obispo Shooting Range,
We would first like to thank all of you who have financially supported the SLO Shooting Range through donations. The money has helped us start tackling many of the projects that are required before the Ranges can be re-opened. Currently all projects are being funded either from the Board of Directors own pockets or from the donations we have received. Additional donations may be made through https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/support-the-range. Donations are very much appreciated since the State of California has yet to provide any financial support. All donations are tax deductible, SLOFAST is registered as a 501(c)(3) with the State of California and the IRS.
We are planning a volunteer workday on Saturday January 17th, 2026, at the SLO Shooting Range (3270 Gilardi Rd. SLO). We will be starting at 9am and ending around 3pm, lunch and beverages will be provided to all volunteers. There are many cleanup and maintenance tasks that need to be done and the more volunteers, the quicker this work can be completed. If you can come out, we would really appreciate your help. If you are able, we would also appreciate people bringing out w**d whackers, blowers, machetes (the w**ds have become pretty thick), and any other landscaping tools you have available. We have only a very limited number of tools available.
We have a tentative date to re-open the Rifle/Pistol range and the SLOAction Pistol Range (formally known as the Hogue Pistol Range. Due to State requirements, the name Hogue had to be removed) on Saturday, January 31, 2026. There are still some issues being worked out with the State of California, but it is our hope that these can be completed by this date.
The Shotgun Range is requiring a significant amount of work prior to re-opening. Therefore, it will be reopened at a later date. We will hopefully have updates very soon.
The Archery range will also re-open at a later date. There are issues with access to the archery range since the bridge that crossed the creek has been condemned by the State and will require replacement. Since the SLO Shooting Range sits on a Stated designated Wildlife Area, all such projects are made more complicated. Once again, we will provide additional information as it becomes available.
Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their help and support. We hope to see you on the volunteer workday this Saturday or on opening day Saturday January 31st, 2026.
Thank you,
SLOFAST Board of Directors.
