A little sustainability win behind the scenes of Creeks to Coast: A huge thank you to Cal Poly Public Health Professor Krysti Escobedo, who donated
five (5) weighing scales to ECOSLO that we’ll use to document how much trash our volunteers remove
from local creeks, neighborhoods, and coastline
during this year’s annual Creeks to Coast Cleanup. 🌊

This donation helps us stay true to the same zero waste and sustainability principles we advocate for in our community. Instead of purchasing five newly manufactured scales, we were able to source
what we needed locally, keep existing equipment in use, and avoid unnecessary new consumption, all while giving us the tools to measure and report the
real impact of our cleanup efforts. We’re so grateful to Krysti for helping us turn community generosity into measurable environmental action!!

Our second highlight for Wildlife Conservation month is the Marine Mammal Center! 🦭

One of their many locations is located locally in Morro Bay at 1385 Main St, Morro Bay, CA 93442.

Thanks to their many volunteers and staff, they’re able to help rescue and care for marine mammals suffering from disease, malnutrition, maternal separation and entanglement before patients are transported to their main hospital in Sausalito.

Our 3rd installment of the SLO Creek Restoration project was this past Saturday! 🌳

With the help of our 31 volunteers, we removed invasive species (Tree of heaven and Vinca minor) and planted native species (California fuschia, Yarrow, White sage, Monkey flower, and Creeping raspberry) along the creek!

Thank you again to all our volunteers that came out to help. 💚

This past Saturday, we had 31 volunteers join us for the third installment of the SLO Creek Restoration project, in partnership with Creek Lands Conservation and the City of San Luis Obispo. We couldn't have done it without you!🌳

Our first highlight for Wildlife Conservation month is Pacific Wildlife Care located in Morro Bay! 🐾

Have you ever found an injured wild animal and wondered what to do? Pacific Wildlife Care is here to help the Central Coast. PWC has been an
advocate for wildlife in SLO County since 1984 and they are SLO County’s only licensed rehabilitation center that cares for injured birds, mammals, and reptiles.

Their onsite veterinarian, clinic director, and rehabilitation technicians are skilled professionals
who oversee the care of animals and ensure each and every one of them receives a complete physical exam/treatment plan, adequate amounts of fluids and nourishment needed for the species, proper housing/caging, follow-up care and pre-release conditioning.

Their Rehabilitation Center is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and accepts animals from 9am-5pm!

PWC is also in their final months of construction on their new Kim & Derrel Ridenour Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in San Luis Obispo, and they’re currently anticipating moving into the new facility around the end of the year!! 🦦
