When the U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan five years ago, thousands of Afghans who helped U.S. troops were brought here to rebuild their lives. But now, some fear the U.S. may want to send them back.

The lack of education for girls in Afghanistan is a tragedy. Thanks to our supporters, SLO for Home has been able to assist eleven Afghan girls. These children will grow up learning at school, playing with their friends, able to follow their dreams because our community rallied together to welcome them. Seven Afghan women have been able to find safety for their children, attend school, begin to rebuild careers stalled by the Taliban, or explore employment for the first time.

These numbers may seem small against the larger picture but for each of those girls and women the support they have received is life changing. SLO for Home is committed to continuing to support Afghan girls and women, and all those impacted by the oppression and war, as they work to rebuild their lives.

Afghan refugees need your help today! Many are still waiting on permanent status after being whisked here on evacuation flights. They have been stripped of their legal protections while waiting for their immigration cases to process. Fortunately, there is a bipartisan effort to once again provide Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to these vulnerable families. Many of these refugees served alongside our military, providing critical support and risking their lives.
