Come play with us tomorrow at the Cherry Festival! Juniper Corner will again be hosting a giant “Kid and Toddler Zone” within San Leandro’s biggest annual event.

🍒 Parade begins at 10AM near SL BART and ends at the SL Main Library
🍒 Festival runs from 11AM to 6PM— vendors, food trucks, two stages, lots of cherry-themed fun
🍒 Juniper Corner will be holding down the Kid Zone near the Community Stage in the parking lot of St. Leander School. To navigate to our exact location within the festival, you can use the address 522 W Estudillo Ave. We’ll be there from 11-6!
🍒 The whole event is free and open to the public! Taking public transit, walking or biking is HIGHLY encouraged, as parking is really challenging and lots of streets will be closed.

Building exterior update! While we are jamming away getting the INSIDE of Juniper Corner ready to welcome families, a quick pause to appreciate how the OUTSIDE of the building has transformed over the last two months!

A huge thank you to for helping me paint mural signage on the south wall, and to for giving us permission to pay homage to his style! Mallory is an amazing artist who volunteered a ton of time helping bring this mural to life.

Another massive thank you to for all our amazing new signage! Ed helped us get this all printed and fabricated, then donated his time installing everything (well, he did accept one iced vanilla latte as payment) 😊. Ed does car wraps, window decals, 3D signs, and everything in between: . Longtime Juniper Corner supporter also helped bring the signs to life!

Not obvious in the photos is that ALL the glass is now safety glass, an upgrade funded by the City of San Leandro Small Business Security Grant!! Thanks

More updates to come! We’re in the home stretch and excited to fill this place with families very soon.

Pop-up play on Wednesday, May 27th! Juniper Corner will be at Memorial Park with interactive toddler activities, soft play, and inclusive fun for all ages. This is an afternoon event, 2-5PM, and just two blocks from the weekly Farmer’s Market: make your food + play dreams come true!

This event is free and open to the public. Our activities are designed for children 0-5, but older kids are welcome. No advance registration required. Spread the word and see you there!

On Tuesday, Juniper Corner was honored to host volunteers from as part of the their Volunteer Week 2026! 30 healthcare professionals (including some pretty big time doctors 😂) got down to business assembling furniture, cleaning donated items, painting, breaking down a mountain of cardboard, and generally relocating lots of heavy stuff.

I can honestly say that every single Kaiser employee who came out was enthusiastic, adaptable and motivated to help. I could hardly believe how much we accomplished in such a short period of time!

In addition to this awesome volunteer day, Kaiser Permanente is a sponsor of Juniper Corner, and we are excited to keep building the partnership.

Thanks especially to Kaiser’s Public Affairs Manager MG Gomilla for making this happen, San Leandro Medical Center Physician-in-Chief Dr. Dhingra for rallying the crew, and Mayor Juan for coming out!

Highlights from last weekend’s pop-up play in San Lorenzo! Huge shoutout to for bringing the curated craft buffet, and to all our amazing volunteers! We can a great time meeting many new families and sharing a day of child-led play.

Notably, we had so many experienced and efficient Juniper Corner volunteers at this event that we set an all time cleanup speed record 😂. 22 minutes between the end of the event and literally pulling away from a spotless picnic area in a fully packed truck 🚙💨💪

Join us for free play this Sunday at The Duck Pond (aka San Lorenzo Community Park)!

Juniper Corner will have soft play, trains, sensory bins, legos, and all sorts of other interactive fun! Our wonderful community partners will be holding down a craft zone.

This event is FREE and open to all— no need to register in advance. Most of our activities are designed for kids ages 1-5, but all are welcome! Coffee, water and light snacks will be provided.

SLZ Community Park is pretty big, so please note that we will be at picnic area 3, right next to the north playground by the Via Carreta entrance. If you’re lost, look for the bright orange Juniper Corner tent 😊. Plenty of parking, and also accessible via the #93 AC Transit bus.

A long time coming: Juniper Corner is on track to open next month!! Though we don’t have the exact grand opening date yet, we’re in the final push to finish the buildout, clear inspections, hire staff, launch our online booking system, and finally bring this whole thing to life! Aiming for late May 🥳

When we set out to open an indoor playspace in 2023, we wildly underestimated the time, cost and effort this would entail. Thanks to an exceptional team of dedicated professionals and an arguably MORE exceptional team of growth-mindset volunteers 😅, we were able to navigate zoning, permitting, fundraising, design and construction, all while hosting 3-4 community events per month 🤪

Thanks to everyone who has cheered us along over the past three years. This space is going to be amazing, and we cannot wait to fill it with kids and joy. Hopefully, this post captures some of the work that’s gone into transforming an old building! It’s come quite a long way 😅
