“This program is more than learning how to fix cars. It’s about transforming lives.” — Chris Knuth, Founder

That has always been at the heart of Project Workforce. Here at home, our mission has focused on providing automotive technical training, personal development, and career opportunities to Veterans, people in recovery, formerly incarcerated individuals, and other underserved and at-risk communities.

We don't simply teach someone how to become an automotive technician. We help create a pathway forward.

And now, that mission is expanding.

Our work in Uganda and India may look different from the automotive training happening here in the United States, but the heart behind it is the same: Meet people where they are. Build meaningful relationships. Provide education and resources. Create opportunities. And give people the tools to build a different future.

As Project Workforce works toward a presence in all 50 states and 35 countries, we're beginning to think bigger about what workforce development can look like around the world.

What started with automotive training in the United States is expanding into different parts of the world where we're dedicated to keeping a child in school, providing a meal, supporting a teacher, a classroom, or a piece of land.

It all moves toward the same goal: Creating opportunities that can transform lives.

🌍 Project Workforce is growing beyond borders.

Our mission is ambitious: to build a presence in all 50 states and 35 countries, creating pathways to education, vocational training, and meaningful work for communities around the world.

But meaningful change doesn’t begin by simply arriving somewhere with a plan.

It begins with relationships.

Before Project Workforce can establish vocational programs in another country, we need trusted relationships with the people who already know and serve their communities—educators, local leaders, government officials, families, and organizations on the ground.

That’s why our developing partnerships in Uganda and India are so important.

In Uganda, that foundation is already taking shape through a relationship with a local school serving children in the Mpigi District. The long-term vision includes helping secure land and building the foundation from which education and, ultimately, vocational opportunities can grow.

In India, we are also building relationships with educational partners already investing in young people and their futures. The students represented in this work are receiving both traditional and modern education - including subjects such as mathematics, science, English, and computers alongside their cultural studies. These aren't simply international projects.

They're relationships. They're foundations. And they're the beginning of something much bigger.

As Project Workforce works toward its vision of reaching 50 states and 35 countries, Uganda and India represent important first steps in learning how we can partner with communities - not simply serve them from afar.

Not everyone who supports Project Workforce will teach a class or work alongside a student—and that’s a good thing.

A strong nonprofit needs people with all kinds of experience.

We need Ambassadors who can introduce our mission to new people. We need community and automotive partners who can open doors. We need volunteers willing to contribute their time and expertise. And we need strong leaders interested in helping guide the organization as Board Members.

Sometimes making a difference is simply asking, “What do you need, and where can I be useful?”

There’s a different kind of confidence that comes from knowing how to do something well.

It’s the moment a problem that once felt intimidating starts to make sense. It’s diagnosing an issue, finding the solution, and realizing, “I know how to handle this.”

That’s one of the things we love about skilled trades.

At Project Workforce, automotive training gives students the opportunity to build knowledge they can see and use in the real world. With every new skill comes experience—and with experience comes the confidence to take on the next challenge.

That confidence doesn’t stay in the shop. It carries into interviews, workplaces, relationships, and whatever comes next.

Sometimes learning what you’re capable of starts by simply learning how to do something new.

We talk a lot about “the workforce,” but sometimes that phrase makes it easy to forget what we're really talking about: people.

People learning something they’ve never done before. People trying to become better employees. People looking for stability. People figuring out what they want the next several years of their lives to look like.

At Project Workforce, automotive training gives our students something concrete to build on. They can learn a skill, practice it, improve it, and ultimately take it into the workplace.

That process is about more than filling open positions. It’s about connecting capable people with an industry where their skills can have real value.

That’s workforce development at the human level.

You probably know something that could help someone else.

Maybe it’s 20 years of automotive experience. Maybe it’s knowing how to navigate a job interview, manage a team, build professional relationships, or simply stay steady when things don’t go according to plan.

That experience has value.

Project Workforce is strengthened by people who are willing to share what they know. Volunteers, mentors, Ambassadors, and community supporters all bring different skills to the table—and you don’t need an automotive background to contribute.

Technical knowledge matters, of course. But ask almost any shop owner what they value in a great employee and you’ll hear about qualities that have nothing to do with a wrench.

Reliability. Communication. Problem-solving. A willingness to learn. Taking pride in doing the job right.

That’s why Project Workforce combines automotive technical training with personal development. We’re not simply helping people learn how to work on vehicles. We’re helping prepare them to walk into a workplace ready to contribute, grow, and build a career.

Because knowing how to do the job is important. Knowing how to be someone others want on their team matters, too.

At Project Workforce, we're helping students develop the technical knowledge and professional skills they'll carry with them throughout their careers. But we're also helping build confidence, responsibility, and a sense of purpose that extends well beyond the workplace.
