Over the past few days, Member Leaders of Area C attended the Area C Institute . It was more than a training—it was an opportunity to grow as leaders and strengthen our union. This weekend reminded us that true leadership begins with dignity—how we treat one another, how we welcome new members, and how we stand together in fairness, respect, and unity. As members return to their chapters, the work begins: putting these skills into action.

Together, we lead with purpose.
Together, We Mobilize Members.
Together, We Fight For Our Future.
Together, We Lead With Dignity.

Thank you to CSEA’s MESD Staff, Member Benefits Department, Association President Adam Irving Joseph Weinberger, Board of Directors and participants for making this event a huge Success!

CSEA's ‘Employee’ Newsletter shared this article after CSEA held its first Paraeducator Conference nearly 30 years ago, in 1998. The Conference was a big success, and you can see similarities and differences to today's event.

Read the article below:

“Nearly 600 paraeducators from throughout the state attended the inaugural California Paraeducator Conference held here in August.

Cosponsored by the state Department of Education and SEA, the conference (shown above) featured speakers from the department, CSEA and national education organizations. Participants also attended workshops on literacy, student diversity, behavior management and special education, among other topics.

The event drew rave reviews from the attendees and prompted the sponsors to commit to an annual gathering of California paraeducators. ‘Every para needs this chance to meet other paras and get their ideas,’ said Fatima Bettencourt, a paraeducator from Chatom Union School District in Stanislaus County.”

NEW POLL: We’re leading Democrats with 16%.

California is too expensive, and the problem won’t be solved by the same politicians who got us here. That's why more and more Californians are joining our movement.

The Summer Assistance Program provides employees working 11 months or fewer with a unique opportunity to set aside up to 10 percent of their paycheck and have the state match those funds up to one dollar for every dollar you earn. Learn more about the program and if you qualify at csea.com/summer-assistance.

Thanks to CSEA-sponsored bill AB 1691, the Summer Assistance Program was fully funded by the state and expanded to include community college staff. The program is a victory for classified staff across the state and is an amazing benefit that would not be possible without the power of unity and CSEA.
