The latest Silicon Valley Pain Index, a report put together by SJSU Human Rights Institute, reminds us that health is shaped by more than healthcare. It is shaped by whether families and individuals have stable housing, enough food, affordable childcare and the opportunity to thrive.

We are proud to stand alongside our partners at San Jose State University. Reports like this help show where inequities exist and why investing in people is essential to building healthier communities.

Today marks the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, a landmark law that expanded access to the ballot and strengthened our democracy.

Voting is about more than elections. It is about who has voice in the decisions that affect our health and well-being.

As voter protections continue to be challenged, protecting voter rights remains part of building healthier more equitable communities. Every voice and every vote matters!

The next generation of public health leaders are already making an impact.

This summer, The Health Trust welcomed its first cohort of Public Health Advocacy Fellows, bringing together eight fellows to explore how advocacy, food justice and community power create healthier communities.

Hear from Sofia Noyes from San Jose State, Courtney Ulyanin from UC Berkeley, Ashley Figueroa from University of Redlands, and Lucia Copello from Santa Clara University as they reflect on what they learned, why experiences like this matter and how they hope to help shape a healthier future for all.

Disability Pride does not end when the month ends. We honor the advocates who fought to expand access, protect civil rights and create a more inclusive future. We also stand with the leaders who continue this work today.

Together, we can build a Silicon Valley where every person is valued, every voice is heard, and every community is accessible.

Accessibility creates opportunity. A ramp opens the door to a building. Captions create space for conversation. An accessible sidewalk builds safety in a neighborhood. An inclusive workplace provides economic opportunity.

Accessibility is the foundation for communities where everyone can participate, contribute and thrive.

This Disability Pride Month, we celebrate the advocates who fought for these rights and those who continue to build a more accessible future for everyone.

This Disability Pride Month, we honor the leaders who transformed disability rights into a movement for justice, dignity and belonging.

Thirty-six years ago, on July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) became law. The ADA marked a historic step forward in protecting the civil rights of millions of people with disabilities. That progress happened because advocates organized, protested and refused to accept a world filled with barriers.

Today, we celebrate the trailblazers who helped shape this movement and the advocates who continue pushing for communities where every person has the opportunity to thrive.

Their work reminds us that accessibility is a right, inclusion strengthens communities and health equity includes disability justice.

Together, we move forward toward a healthier, more equitable California for all.

This summer, we are hosting our first ever Summer Public Health Advocacy Fellowship Program, bringing together eight fellows who are helping to shape the future of health equity in our region.

During their time with THT they will explore new ways to advance food justice, strengthen community power, and build advocacy strategies rooted in the voices of those most impacted by health inequities.

We are proud to invest in the next generation of public health leaders and excited to see the ideas they bring to our communities.
