Association Updates - Winter 2026

JANBA Rep wanted
San Jose would like to fill the last representative spot on the JANBA Board. If you are interested, the qualifications are as follows:
Bowler in good standing
Current Member of the SJNBA
Able to attend the JANBA Board meeting on the Sunday of JANBA week
Able to attend a local JNBA meeting before and after JANBA
Benefits include helping shape the future of JANBA tournaments, ability to sign off on entries and travel stipend from SJNBA. Please contact an SJNBA Board member of league rep.

It's not too late to submit entries for the 2024 Fuzzy Shimada Memorial tournament which will be held October 19-20 at 4th Street Bowl but the deadline, October 11th, is fast approaching. Here are the squads and events that still have openings...

10 Spots --- Squad 1 - Doubles, Sat @ 9AM
3 Spots --- Squad 2 - Trios, Sat @ 11AM
8 Spots --- Squad 4 - Trios, Sat @ 5 PM
2 Spots --- Squad 5 - Doubles, Sun @ 10AM
1 Spot --- Squad 6 - Trios, Sun @ 12:30PM

For those of you who are planning to submit an entry for the Fuzzy Shimada Memorial Tournament scheduled for October 19-20 at 4th Street Bowl, Squad #3, the Saturday 2:30 PM Doubles Squad is sold out.

Fuzzy Shimada Memorial Update

The Saturday 11:30 AM Trios squad is SOLD OUT!
The Sunday Trios squad has only ONE spot left.
Once that last spot on Sunday is filled, those wishing to bowl a trios event, only the late-Saturday squad remains.

We will be able to go 4 doubles teams on a pair on Sunday so even though the website says there's only 5 spots left, the reality is, we can accommodate more entries for that squad.

Entry forms for the 2023 Fuzzy Shimada Memorial Tournament can be downloaded from the SJNBA website. Tournament will be held October 21-22 at 4th Street Bowl. Entry deadline is Friday, October 13th.

Please keep in mind the Saturday Trios squad has a history of selling out so get your entries in as soon as possible. For those who are requesting we hold spots for them, those requests will be honored once rosters are received. We have created a website at fsmt.markyville.com that has up-to-date squad status which includes how many entries we have received for each squad and a list of who has submitted entries.

Fuzzy Shimada Memorial - Entry Update #2

There are still a limited number of spaces left for this year's Fuzzy Shimada Memorial Tournament. Here is where we stand with regards to entries...

Sat 10:00 AM (Dbls) -- 38 entries (7 spots remain)
Sat 12:30 PM (Trios) -- 32 entries (FULL)
Sat 4:00 PM (Dbls) -- 18 entries (24 spots remain)

Sun 10:00 AM (Dbls) -- 41 entries (4 spots remain)
Sun 12:30 PM (Trios) -- 28 entries (4 spots remain)

Entry deadline is this Friday, October 14th. If you plan to submit an entry please email the entry form to me at [email protected] (note: this is a new e-mail address). Depending on the timing I may either ask you to send your entry fee through the mail or pay on-site.

Here's a run down on how many entries I have per squad. If you sent me a request to hold spots but have not submitted your entry/rosters, they ARE NOT included in the numbers below...

Squad 1 (Sat Doubles) -- 28 entries
Squad 2 (Sat Trios) -- 19 entries
Squad 3 (Sat Doubles) -- 5 entries
Squad 4 (Sun Doubles) -- 20 entries
Squad 5 (Sun Trios) -- 14 entries

Entries Received: Odell, Hsiao, Lee, Gavino, Musngi, Wilcenski

Max entries for Trios squads is 32
Max entries for Doubles squads is 45

The Saturday Trios squad is almost certain to sell out. If you're planning to submit an entry, I would suggest you do so as soon as possible.
