In recent years, Afghan women have seen hard-won rights, including the right to earn a living, summarily stripped from them. Access to food and healthcare are their daily worry. Their suffering, and the impacts of malnutrition on their children, are inescapable, but not inevitable. On August 31st, at approximately midnight, a 6.0-magnitude earthquake shook eastern Afghanistan. When the earthquake struck, its impact was so severe that houses collapsed on sleeping families. To date, more than 2,200 people have died, 3,640 were injured, and at least 6,700 homes were either partially or fully destroyed. TKHF is matching all donations made until September 17th to benefit the relief efforts of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
