LEAD Filipino

LEAD Filipino LEAD Filipino builds the civic and cultural power of Filipino Americans by developing public leaders and community organizers to create change.

Through cultural programs, civic education, and grassroots campaigns, we transform visibility into impact. Leadership, Education, Activism & Dialogue (L.E.A.D.) Filipino, is a nonprofit organization and movement which promotes local engagement, social awareness, and public service among our Valley’s FilAm community. We provide community-responsive workshops, leadership programs, and advocate for i

ssues of racial equity and public safety. Through local partnerships we strive to not only expose – but educate – young Filipinas/xs/os about the community around them from career, academic, and larger-involvement perspectives. In working toward our mission, we host our programs in the San Jose/Silicon Valley. We strive for a simple goal – create lasting change to empower Filipinas/xs/os to persist and achieve as leaders in their own communities today. Weekend hours based on events.

Happy Women’s Equality Day from an organization run by 95% women, with an acute understanding of the rights, representation, and access that our forebears—the matrons of the movement—fought for so that our generation could have it easier and face fewer of the barriers they contended with.

From fair hiring practices and non-discrimination policies to efforts that increase women’s leadership in our communities and conference rooms, we recognize there is still so much to do in our shared advocacy to confront income inequality and wage disparities—and ultimately advance economic and political justice for young girls and women.

Happy Women’s Equality Day.

We joined Vietnamese American Roundtable’s SEEDS Community & Solidarity Picnic last month alongside SIREN, Asian Law Alliance, Working Partnerships USA, and South Bay Youth Changemakers to share our experience around topics such as allyship, mentorship, advocacy, and community support.

Shoutout to our Senior Outreach Coordinator, Marnelli Canosa, for representing our organization on the panel and joining the conversation around what community solidarity and action looks like in our grassroots organizing.

Thank you to VAR for the opportunity to connect to local youth and community members and for building a thoughtful leadership program!

Summer has flown by! ☀️😎

School is starting up for many students in our community and we’re appreciative for the opportunity to welcome families and youth back-to-school at AACI’s annual Back-to-School Health Fair.

Our current Kalusugan [Health] Advocacy & Awareness in Action Cohorts volunteered with us to share resources, help teach community members Tagalog words through an interactive game, and get folks plugged into our programs, services, and resources.

See everyone again next year!

School Portrait or our Q3 Membership Mixer? 🤔

We had a blast mixing it up with our community members last week sharing updates, learning what fuels their commitment to social change, and dreaming of what a future rooted in social justice looked like together!

Thank you to everyone who came and we looking forward to working towards a future that is rooted in health equity, culturally-responsive education, basic human rights, racial justice, grassroots leadership, and civic participation.

See you all at our last quarterly meeting on October 14th from 6-8PM PST in San José, CA.
