Silver Lining Missions provides family-based care, disability rehabilitation, education support, and poverty relief for vulnerable children across Myanmar, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Our Story

"The Beginning"

Silver Lining Missions began in 2005 when founders Chris and Lydia responded to a calling to serve vulnerable children in rural China. Leaving behind a comfortable life in California, t

hey moved their family to Guangxi with a simple goal: to bring hope, care, and opportunity to children who had been overlooked by society. These children were not defined by their circumstances. They were full of potential, resilience, and dreams. What they needed was not pity, but love, opportunity, and people who believed in them. That belief became the foundation of Silver Lining Missions. "Our Journey"

What started as a small workshop providing vocational opportunities for individuals with disabilities soon grew into a broader mission of serving vulnerable children and families. Over the years, Silver Lining Missions has expanded to provide:

• Family-based care for orphans and vulnerable children
• Rehabilitation services for children with disabilities
• Education support and youth development programs
• Emergency medical assistance for children in crisis
• Poverty relief and community support initiatives

Today, Silver Lining Missions serves children and families across Myanmar, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia, helping them grow with dignity, hope, and opportunity. "Looking Ahead"

While our programs have grown, our mission remains unchanged. We believe lasting transformation happens through relationships, consistent care, and walking alongside children and families over time. Rather than offering temporary solutions, we invest in long-term growth that empowers children to thrive physically, emotionally, educationally, and socially. As we look toward the future, we remain committed to serving vulnerable children, strengthening families, and building communities where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Together, we turn compassion into lasting change. "Your Love Changes Lives"

Poverty should never define a child’s potential. ❤️

For many children growing up in rural and underserved communities, poverty can affect much more than what they wear. It can interrupt education, limit access to nutritious meals, and make opportunities for growth harder to reach.

At Silver Lining Missions, our poverty relief and youth development programs go beyond meeting immediate needs.

We help children access education, tutoring, nutritious meals, mentorship, life skills, character development and a supportive community where they can continue to learn and grow.

Because a child’s circumstances may shape where their journey begins—but they should never decide how far that child can go.

Together, we can help create opportunities that last.

Sometimes the best memories begin with a little play. ❤️

A day at Mandalay, Pyin Oo Lwin National Garden quickly became a day full of laughter, games, and new friendships.

During their August visit, our U.S. visitors spent time with children from Silver Lining Family Village in Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay, Myanmar—playing together, sharing smiles, and simply enjoying the moment.

There were no complicated plans needed. Sometimes connection begins with showing up, spending time together, and letting children be children. ❤️

These are the little moments that become lasting memories.

What’s a childhood day you still remember with a smile?

Behind a child’s journey is often a family carrying a journey too. ❤️

During Family Camp, our Communications Officer shared lunch with this grandmother and her grandson. A simple conversation opened a window into her everyday life.

While her daughter works abroad to support the family, she cares for her grandson on the autism spectrum, helps look after the other children at home, and keeps daily family life moving.

There are tired days and worries others may never see. Still, she continues to show up—with patience, care, and love.

Her story reminds us that supporting a child with a disability also means supporting the family beside them.

No caregiver should have to carry the journey alone.

❤️ Share this story to remind a caregiver that they deserve support too.

Who cares for the parents who care for their children every day? 🤍

Our Family Camp in Yangon, Myanmar brought together families of children with Autism and Cerebral Palsy (CP) for three days of rest, learning, connection, and joy.

Because supporting children with disabilities also means supporting the families who stand beside them.

You are seen. You are valued. You are not alone. 🤍

Special thanks to all visitors who travelled to Myanmar from United States.

❤️ Who Shows Up When People Need Support?

Behind every act of humanity is someone who chooses to show up.

Someone who listens.
Someone who cares.
Someone who takes action—and keeps coming back.

On World Humanitarian Day 2026, we honor humanitarian workers around the world who serve people and communities through some of life’s most difficult moments.

At Silver Lining Missions, we are also grateful for the people who walk alongside children and families every day—from community support and education to rehabilitation, family care, and practical assistance.

Their work reminds us that compassion becomes meaningful when it becomes action.

Today, we honor those who keep showing up. ❤️

Who is someone who has shown up for you when you needed it most?

Behind every child we support is a parent who needs to feel supported, too. 💛

From August 6–8, visitors from United States, families of children with Autism and Cerebral Palsy (CP) from Silver Lining Missions-supported programs at Eden Centre for Disabled Children (ECDC) - Myanmar came together for a three-day Family Camp in Yangon.

The purpose was simple: to give parents space to rest, connect, share, and learn—while teachers and volunteers spent meaningful time with their children.

For three days, families laughed, learned, and found encouragement in one another.

One beautiful moment stayed with us:

Children with CP sitting in their wheelchairs, clapping and cheering as other children ran and played nearby.

No comparison. No barriers.
Just children celebrating children. 🤍

Three days may be short, but feeling seen, supported, and included can stay with a family much longer.

Because every child deserves opportunities to grow—and every family deserves a community that walks beside them.

A Memory We Can Wear ❤️

Every month, our team capture meaningful moments from across Silver Lining’s programs, and three photos are selected to celebrate the stories behind them.

July’s winning photo takes us back to Family Village Day, a simple white T-shirt became a memory filled with colorful handprints, handwritten words, drawings, and laughter.

This winning photo by May Thu Thu Htun (Program Team) captures what life at Silver Lining Family Village is really about—children sharing joy, creativity, connection, and meaningful moments together.

The paint may fade, but the memories will stay. 📸

What is one memory you wish you could keep forever?

When others saw little hope for progress, Guangfeng’s family kept showing up.

Through years of rehabilitation, early mornings, and daily care, his parents continued supporting him with patience and love. Today, Guangfeng can sit and stand with support, and his younger brother is also making progress through rehabilitation.

Their journey reminds us that every child deserves dignity, inclusion, and people who will keep walking beside them.

“No matter how far we have to go, we will never abandon our children.”

Care Begins With Listening

Warm welcomes opened the door to honest conversations during our recent community outreach in Yangon, Myanmar.

Families invited us into their homes and shared the medical, financial, and everyday pressures they are navigating.

One family remains deeply united in caring for a kid facing serious health challenges. In other households, between 16 and 20 family members share very limited living spaces. Some family members adjust their working hours by working at night so others have enough room to sleep.

Despite these pressures, we saw warmth, cooperation, generosity, and strong family relationships.

Our team spent time listening to each family, discussing their concerns, offering encouragement, and sharing practical support.

We believe that meaningful humanitarian care does not begin with assumptions. It begins by understanding people’s real circumstances, recognizing their strengths, and walking alongside them with dignity.

Let compassion lead. Choose humanity. Choose care.
