San Jose Assembly is working hard this summer! We are learning new and useful skills to help us grow! This is our third sewing class. We are working on sewing a dress from scratch. We put together a pdf pattern, cut out our patterns, cut out our fabric and began sewing the bodices of our dresses. Next week we will sew the skirts, add the zippers and finishing trim and hem.

Some members of San Jose 5 and our pledge got to meet one of the original Rosie the Riveters at History San Jose Living History Day ‘45 Days! She’s 103 years young and was so happy to share her history with our members!

San Jose Assembly is so incredibly proud of our own Sarmy V, Jr Past Grand Immortality Rep to FL, IL, TN for being awarded the Masons of CA Foundation, Youth Leadership Scholarship for $3000! Sarmy is a Junior at Colorado State University studying Veterinary Science. We are so proud of her and her hard work! She is such an inspiration to our members! Way to go Sarmy!

Join San Jose Assembly at our 2nd meeting of the term. The theme is Favorite Books! Bring your favorite book to show off and bring a new or used book for our book exchange! Let’s share a love of reading with our sisters!

Please Join San Jose Assembly for our first meeting of the term and help us with our back to school supply drive for city team San Jose. All school supplies are greatly appreciated. We will be at the Masonic Center at 6pm to collect supplies. Our meeting is at 7 and the theme is Trey to self!

On Sunday July 19, members of San Jose Assembly and Pledge started a 3 part Sewing workshop. In the first part of the workshop they learned to take measurements, find their measurements on the size chart, pick their size and print it, piece the pdf pattern together and cut it out. We also went fabric shopping. Next time we will begin by laying out our pattern pieces on the fabric, cutting and then starting to sew. We took breaks to eat, socialize and talk to one of our sisters away at college. It was a great day! We can’t wait to have our next sewing day! There’s still time to join us for our next sewing day on August 9th!

For fun Friday for the month of June, San Jose Assembly learned to sew pillows! Our members learned how to use a sewing machine, thread a bobbin, thread the sewing machine needle, and sew straight lines. Our next project will be pantaloons, with the hope that by the end of the summer our members will be able to sew a basic dress from beginning to end. We are preparing our members for life by teaching them skills that many don’t learn in school or at home anymore, but are just as important. If you know a girl who is 8-20 who would be I treated in joining our sisterhood please reach out! We would love to meet her!
