✨ We were blessed to visit Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in East San José to present their Living the Faith Grant award and witness firsthand the faith, generosity, and spirit of service that continue to shape this community.

Serving thousands of parishioners each weekend, Our Lady of Guadalupe is a parish where people are growing as disciples, serving their neighbors, and strengthening families through faith. Under the leadership of Fr. Hugo Rojas, the parish is focused on strengthening families, forming disciples, and raising up leaders for the future of the Church.

Through the Living the Faith Grant, the parish will expand family formation opportunities, host youth retreats, and enhance the worship experience through sound system improvements that will help parishioners more fully participate in the liturgy.

🌱 The Catholic Community Foundation is excited to support the parish as they continue to strengthen families, deepen faith, and answer Christ's call to serve their community. In 2025, we awarded $327,000 across 45 parishes throughout the Diocese of San Jose, supporting initiatives aligned with the Diocese’s pastoral vision, Renewed in Christ, Together in Mission.

✨ We're grateful to our partner, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, for recently hosting us at three different sites: Educare, the Franklin-McKinley Children's Initiative, and Eastside Neighborhood Center. Special thanks to CEO Don Taylor and his amazing team for the warm welcome and for giving us an inside look at how they are creating pathways to opportunity by serving and advocating for individuals and families in need.

🏫 At Educare, we saw how high-quality early childhood education helps narrow opportunity gaps for low-income and historically underserved children and families. Beyond the classroom, Educare connects families to essential resources, including parenting support and diaper distribution programs that help meet basic needs.

🀝 At the Franklin-McKinley Children's Initiative, we learned about the power of public-private partnerships in the Santee neighborhood. By bringing together committed community members, schools, nonprofits, government, and community organizations, the Initiative helps families access the resources, services, and opportunities they need to thrive.

πŸ’™ At Eastside Neighborhood Center, we learned how Catholic Charities provides educational, recreational, wellness, nutritional, and social services that help older adults stay healthy, connected, and engaged. Serving seniors in East San Jose, the Center creates opportunities for connection and belonging. We were especially delighted to see the Filipino group dancing - highlighting the joy, culture, and community at the heart of the Center’s programs!

Site visits like these help us champion our nonprofit partners with our donors and supporters by connecting firsthand stories of impact to meaningful philanthropic investment and a deeper understanding of the unique needs of each program and community.

✨ We were honored to visit St. Cyprian Catholic Church - Sunnyvale last month to hand-deliver their The Catholic Community Foundation Living the Faith Grant award and learn firsthand about the vibrant community, ministries, and vision that are shaping the parish's future.

We enjoyed meeting with Fr. Robain Lamba, Parish Leadership team members Dale Vorwerk and Jill Snoeberger, and Diocese of San Jose's Pastoral Planning & Implementation Project Manager Zaira Martinez-Robles. The Diocese's Pastoral Planning & Implementation Team were once again central to this year's Living the Faith Grant process, and we are grateful for their partnership.

πŸ’™ Serving approximately 500 families and growing, including many Latino parishioners, Saint Cyprian is committed to strengthening families, forming disciples, and serving its neighbors. Through the Living the Faith Grant, Saint Cyprian plans to invest in a number of ministries focused on Family, Evangelization, Formation, Worship, Music, Outreach, and Collaboration, including growing small faith-sharing groups; offering Retrouvaille, a program that helps couples communicate better and strengthen their marriages; youth and young adult retreats; Alpha, a program that invites people to explore life's big questions and deepen their faith; bilingual liturgical resources; and a new food distribution partnership. The parish also hopes to strengthen its music ministry with much-needed new music equipment.

We are blessed to accompany Saint Cyprian on this journey and look forward to seeing how these initiatives bear fruit in the years ahead. 🌱

✨ We had a lot of fun meeting future student interns at the Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School Corporate Work Study Program Expo last month!

As a proud Corporate Work Study partner, we were excited to connect with students as they prepare to begin their professional journeys. The Expo gave us the opportunity to share how we connect generosity with community impact, answer students' questions, and introduce them to careers that help strengthen our local Catholic community.

🌱 Over the past six years, The Catholic Community Foundation has been honored to host two Cristo Rey student interns. Along the way, we've had the privilege of watching the students grow in confidence, strengthen their professional skills, and prepare for college and beyond. Seeing their success is one of the most rewarding parts of our partnership.

We're grateful to Cristo Rey for creating opportunities that empower students through meaningful work experience, and we're proud to partner in mentoring, encouraging, and investing in these remarkable young people as they build bright futures.

We're looking forward to welcoming a new Cristo Rey intern to the Foundation later this month and supporting another year of learning, growth, and opportunity together! 🀝
