📢 National Night Out Update from ARVAC

Hi neighbors! We wanted to let you know that ARVAC will not be hosting our annual National Night Out event this year. Between scheduling conflicts and lower volunteer turnout, we just weren't able to pull it together this time around and we didn't want to do it halfway.

The good news? Two nearby neighborhood associations are hosting NNO events this year, and you're welcome to join in the fun:

🎉 Creekside Neighborhood Association
National Night Out Community Celebration
Tue., Aug. 4 | 6–8 PM
Cimarrón Park (Orange St. & Pelleas Ln., by the playground)
Food, drinks, games, and more!

🎉 Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Association
National Night Out — Annual Community Event
Robert Sanders Elementary
Aug. 4 | 6–8 PM
Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Association
Volunteers welcome for set up, clean up, and day-of support!
Questions? [email protected]

We hope to see many of you out celebrating community and connection with our neighbors.

Thanks for your understanding!

What was once a worn and overlooked side of the building has been transformed into a vibrant celebration of nature.

Inspired by California’s wildflowers, and monarch butterflies, the artwork adds color, movement, and a welcoming spirit to the neighborhood.

Public art has the power to transform spaces, create pride, and make the business district more inviting for everyone. We’re grateful to Lila Gemellos for turning our vision into a stunning work of art that residents and visitors can enjoy for years to come.

Next time you’re in the Village stop by, take a photo, and experience this colorful new addition for yourself.

Big news, neighbors!

Starting today, local artist Lila Gemello begins work on a beautiful new mural in Alum Rock Village. 🎨

This project has been a labor of love, we've worked tirelessly to bring more public art to our neighborhood, and it's finally happening thanks to a grant from Councilmember Peter Ortiz.

The mural will showcase California native flowers, bringing color and life to the side of the San Jose Flowers building.

Swing by and watch this beautiful piece come to life! Or follow Lila’s IG page to see the progress.

🚧 TRAFFIC SAFETY MEETING 🚧

Join us this Wednesday, April 15 at 6PM at the Dr. Roberto Cruz Alum Rock Branch Library (3090 Alum Rock Ave) for an important community conversation about traffic safety in our neighborhood.

The Alum Rock Village Action Committee invites residents of the unincorporated areas of San José to hear directly from the County Roads & Airports Department. They will be presenting traffic calming recommendations for:
• Maro Dr
• Madeline Dr
• Hyland Avenue
• Cragmont

This is also your chance to raise concerns about speeding, unsafe intersections, pedestrian safety, and other traffic issues affecting our community.

Your voice matters, come share your input and help shape safer streets for everyone.
