Stephanie Torres, a 2021 Latinos in Technology (LIT) Scholar, shared her post-grad journey at last year's Ball. She speaks on exploring different roles in the engineering field, which led her to her current job as a design mechanical engineering!🥳

🌎 Hispanic Heritage Month 🌎

HFSV's celebration of Latinos in STEM continues, this time at Dell! 💻

Our scholars, board members, and the HFSV team joined Dell for "Latino Leadership in the Age of AI" to recognize Hispanic Heritage Month🚀

CEO and President Gonzales and Figueroa Aguilar (LITSI graduate), Valeria Avila Guerrero (President, Latina Geeks Silicon Valley Chapter), and Ken Durazzo (VP of AI Centric Engineering, Dell) for a panel moderated by Ben Hanes of Dell.

The conversation covered career growth, opportunities for Latinos in tech, the future of work with AI, and building the next generation of Latino leaders.👏

Ron asked who is in charge of AI. He talked about the importance of having Latinos holding positions of power to shape this new technology, rather than only working in the AI space. Alam spoke about using AI as a tool for more than problem-solving, but also for learning.

🤩 Welcome New Scholars!🤩

We are thrilled to welcome 40 STEM college students into the Latinos in Technology Scholars Initiative (LITSI).🎉

Here is a little bit of information on our 11th cohort of LITSIs:
🌟 83% First-generation college students
🌟 43% Community college transfers
🌟 43% Latina scholars (nearly half!)
🌟 38% majoring in Engineering

Scholars are attending universities throughout California☀️, including Stanford University, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine Admissions, UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, San Francisco State University, and others across the US.

Beyond financial support, LITSI connects students to a community of Latinos in STEM who guide them in interviewing, networking, and other professional development to navigate their path to successful careers.🙌

💻 Celebrating AI Education! 💻

24 recent high school graduates from Eastside San Jose completed our AI Digital Literacy program! 🌟In partnership with Everyone On, this program teaches them about the most common AI tools, best practices, and how to use them for school and job hunting.

Majoring in STEM fields, these bright minds will attend local community colleges and 4-year universities such as Valley College, Anza College, José State University, Clara University, Davis, UC Berkeley, and even Seattle University! 🚀

A huge thank you to our instructor Joe Weaver and Sr. Program Manager Robert Leyton from Everyone On, as well as Ly, MBA and Micron, for their dedication and support in making this program a success.✨
