Would you like to learn to play a traditional Ukrainian musical instrument?

Tetiana Loboda (kobza, vocals) from Kyiv, Ukraine, will offer introductory kobza lessons during the festival for both children and adults. Tetiana's work is closely connected to the musical traditions of Ukrainian Baroque. Her repertoire includes spiritual songs from the 17th and 18th centuries, works by Hryhorii Skovoroda, historical and folk songs, and instrumental dance music from the Cossack era.

The kobza (кобза) is a traditional Ukrainian string instrument with a rich history, holding a central place in Ukrainian culture and folklore. The kobza isn't only about tradition - it's an inseparable part of Ukraine's present and future.

Ukraine didn’t sleep last night. Again.

Throughout the night, russian missiles and drones attacked cities across the country. Families sheltered. Children were up listening to explosions and air-raid sirens.

Today, we are learning the cost.
At least 20 people were killed, and dozens were injured, including children. In Pryluky, a russian missile struck a residential building. Four children were killed. Seven more were injured.

For Ukraine’s children, this is the reality of war: destroyed homes, nights in shelters, families torn apart, and thousands of children illegally taken by russia who are still waiting to come home.

In this darkness, we can be their hope.

Through Become Hope for Ukraine’s Children, UNWLA is raising $100,000 to support the return and rehabilitation of Ukrainian children illegally abducted by russia.

UkrFood Now was created in response to the war in Ukraine. It has two missions: first, to create work opportunities for Ukrainian refugees, especially women who fled the war and came to the United States; and second, to introduce Ukrainian food to Americans and keep Ukraine in their hearts and minds.
We serve traditional Ukrainian varenyky in a variety of flavors, from sweet to savory.
We use natural ingredients to color the dough, making our varenyky not only beautiful, but delicious as well.
