Zahhak ibn Abdullah al-Mashriqi stayed with Sayyid al-Shuhada until Zuhr on Ashura. When asked about leaving, he cited a prior agreement and the martyrdom of other companions. Imam Hussein allowed him to leave with a hidden horse. While not deemed entirely bad, his departure left Imam Hussein alone in his time of need.
