(Esp abajo) Did you know? Last month was our Clothes Closet's strongest of the year — 2,801 community members served, up 13.5% from the month before. Every donated coat, every gently-used pair of shoes, is one more way our neighbors get to choose what fits their family, on their own terms.

Have nice, gently used clothes to give? Drop them off Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Someone's new favorite jacket might be sitting in your closet right now.

¿Sabías que? El mes pasado fue el más fuerte del año para nuestro Clothes Closet — 2,801 personas de la comunidad atendidas, un 13.5% más que el mes anterior. Cada abrigo donado, cada par de zapatos poco usado, es una forma más de que nuestros vecinos elijan lo que le queda bien a su familia, a su manera.

It's always a joy to visit Presentation High School. Today's Service Fair, organized by Stephanie Neustadter, Director of Service and Immersion, brought together thoughtful, change-making young women building toward a better community.

The best surprise came from Carmen Pauls Wiens, the Wellness Center Coordinator. She invited me to see the Center after our luncheon, and it's every bit as impressive as it sounds. Students walk in anytime they need thirty minutes of space, for laughter and activity, or for quiet and reflection.

Mrs. Pauls Wiens joked I'm not the first adult who's asked for a spot there. But she had something better: a gift from the students. The young women who spend time in that space had used some of it making blankets, for our community to share.

That's the kind of partnership that keeps Santa Maria strong: young women building something warm for neighbors they may never meet. We're grateful for our strong partnership with Presentation High School!

Siempre es un gusto visitar Presentation High School. La Feria de Servicio de hoy, organizada por Stephanie Neustadter, Directora de Servicio e Inmersión, reunió a jóvenes reflexivas y decididas a construir una mejor comunidad.

La mejor sorpresa vino de Carmen Pauls Wiens, Coordinadora del Centro de Bienestar. Me invitó a conocer el Centro después de nuestro almuerzo, y resultó ser tan impresionante como suena. Las estudiantes pasan cuando necesitan treinta minutos de espacio, para reír y estar activas, o para el silencio y la reflexión.

La maestra Pauls Wiens bromeó que no soy el primer adulto que pide un lugar ahí. Pero tenía algo mejor: un regalo de las estudiantes. Las jóvenes que pasan tiempo en ese espacio habían usado parte de ese tiempo para hacer cobijas, para compartir con nuestra comunidad.

Así es la clase de alianza que mantiene fuerte a Santa Maria: jóvenes construyendo algo cálido para vecinos que tal vez nunca conozcan. ¡Estamos agradecidos por nuestra sólida alianza con Presentation High School!
