Our mission is to actively facilitate and support the humane treatment of feral cat colonies. This will include participating in Trap Neuter and Return (TNR) of feral cats, seeking medical attention for cats that are ill or hurt, setting up feeding stations for anyone willing to feed a colony on a daily basis, trapping kittens and finding foster homes to socialize them and training others to do the same.

This sweet boy was going to be euthanized today at SJACC. He has kidney disease and had most of his teeth extracted. They've aged him at 14, though nobody really knows how old he is. However old he is, however long he has left with us, he will be warm, fed and loved. Even though the shelter said he was difficult to handle, he has not stopped purring since the fosters brought him home. Thank you to Lin for bringing him to our attention and to Jane and her husband for offering to foster him. If you want to help us care for Big Bird (we might have to change that name) you can donate to his care here.

Today I deactivated my two Nextdoor accounts. That platform has gotten super toxic, and I am constantly being sucked into situations where my concern is simply for the animal that needs help, yet I have to correct misinformation and argue with people who don't have my experience or knowledge. I am very tired of it.

So to the people who finally pushed me to the limit yesterday (and if you see this post, you will know who you are) please help that cat and realize that not all cats want to live indoors. Try to see it through his eyes, not yours.

And, as sad as it makes us, sometimes euthanasia is the kindest thing you can do for them. It is our responsibility to make those hard decisions.

Oh and to Brenda, who had to make a nasty comment about me posting on two Nextdoor pages, because I am on two neighborhoods, often my posts don't cross over to both.

For those of you that support us, as always, we are grateful. ❤🐾

Just wanted to send a shout out to Peilin Rowley and Carolyn Alcantar for jumping into action when a cat needed help. And to Susan Minh Trang for immediately offering to go when we reached out to her for help. Peilin went last night but the cat was gone, Carolyn tonight and got him trapped and to VEG. Even thought VEG is not contracted with the city for after hours care, they are a compassionate veterinary group and let this poor boy go gently.

Just a reminder that cats found in SJACC's jurisdiction need to go to MedVet Campbell for after hours care. And you first need to contact AC dispatch and describe the situation. After hours care is not for something that can wait until the next day. Like limping or a URI.

Thank you ladies. We are grateful for your help.

If you read our last post, you know a coyote got another cat at a colony we are working on—and it may have cost her kittens their lives, because we cannot find them. In this neighborhood, coyotes have taken upwards of 10 cats in the last month.

When neighbors were scouring the area looking for the kittens, they saw many pet cats roaming the streets. I can't stress this enough

STOP LETTING YOUR CATS FREE-ROAM!

I know I am going to get grief for saying this, and I have heard every excuse in the book, but folks, this is the reality. It happens far more often than people realize. I could post pictures of the cat that was eviscerated today, but I won't. I could get the video of the kitten snatched from a driveway near a local elementary school, but I won't.

It's not just coyotes, and we all know that. There are cars, aggressive dogs, malicious people, disease, and poison. Please stop putting your pets in danger.

If you have coyotes in your neighborhood, you must make the environment inhospitable to them. Read the hazing guidelines from the San Diego Humane Society here

https://sdhumane.org/resources/coyote-hazing-guidelines/

We will leave you with a photo of one of the cats living at the farm.

For the second time in a couple of weeks a cat we were working with was killed by a coyote. Unfortunately, this one left behind 3 week old kittens we can't find. Sometimes rescue is so hard. Please hold a good thought, the whole neighborhood is looking for them.

These beautiful cats are still looking for their forever home. While their foster mama loves them, she knows the perfect home is out there waiting for them. Please consider Kohler and Sadie!! We've added some new photos!! We are grateful! ❤ 🐾

Remember the kittens we got last year that spent some time in my catio? Well, two of those sweet kittens found their forever home and are living the life! Kohler was left behind when his siblings were adopted, and we thought he would be a much happier boy with a friend. Well, there just happened to be a new tortie teen that had shown up in our colony. She was shy, but we thought she needed a chance. So, we brought Sadie home, and she and Kohler became fast friends. Sadie can be shy at first, but she loves her foster human, as does her brother from another mother, Kohler. Do you have room in your heart and home for Kohler and Sadie? If not, can you share this post and help us find them their forever home? We are grateful. ❤🐾

Update: ADOPTED!!! Thank you Liz and Eric!!!

These girls are still looking for a forever home!! Check out the updated photos and share share share!!! We know every cat has its forever home, let's find theirs. We are grateful.

Many of you may know that Gatos de la Noche stopped doing adoptions this year, focusing on TNR, colony management, public education and advocacy. That being said, we have had a few cats and kittens in our care from locations we trapped and were unable to find placement for. So I would like to introduce you to some kittens we have that need their forever homes.

Rosemary and Sage came to us from a backyard in San Jose. Their siblings were all accepted by another rescue. Rosemary is a little shy with strangers and is very bonded to her super sweet sister Sage, so we felt it was better for these sisters to stay in a foster home until we could find homes. They love the foster family they live with who has kids, cats and even a new puppy. Do you have room in your heart and home for Rosemary and Sage? If not, please share this post and help us find a family for them. We are grateful. ❤🐾
