Valley Verde is Introducing Sow & Grow Community Day

Every 2nd Saturday, Valley Verde will be hosting an educational Community Workshop alongside a social activity or Volunteering Opportunity! Join us to learn new skills, make new friends, reconnect with the land, and hang out with Valley Verde staff! Be a part of the Valley Verde community!

This Saturday will be our very first Sow & Grow Day! This month’s topic is Introduction to Food Justice: from Home Gardens to Homemade Art.

When: Aug 10, 1-3pm
Where: Valley Verde!

What: Free knowledge + Art Activity

Food justice is the right to accessible, healthy foods — and engaging in it doesn’t have to be a lot of work! Together we will learn how to be a part of the food justice movement in our daily lives and at home!
Join us as we will learn what food justice looks like in San Jose, discuss quick and simple ways to grow plants at home, then practice how to use those plants for making food AND art (that you can take home)! Food justice can mean nourishment AND fun!

P.S.: Stop by our new Homeland Nursery Pop-up Shop at this event (and future Sow & Grow Days) and get the chance to pick up free seedlings as well as purchase Valley Verde t-shirts, Super Sprouts kits, and more!

While Community Workshops are guaranteed to occur every 2nd Saturday at our Sow & Grow Community Days, they may also pop-up at any time throughout the year! These are FREE educational workshops open to anyone and require zero experience. Sign up early before they sell out!

Valley Verde Volunteer Day 8/18!

We are looking for some volunteers to come out and help us with some of our compost-related tasks on Friday, August 18th. The volunteer day will run from 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM, we would love to have you join us! If you have any questions about your own compost or compost system, bring them to the volunteer day and we can help you get some answers!

Hello Valley Verde community!

We are looking for volunteers to help with composting this Friday July 21st, and we would love it if you could join us! To help in launching our compost HUB/Program, we need some help working our compost pile, worm compost system, and new compost tea system. Come join us starting from 9:00AM to learn more about what these are, hang out with staff, and meet fellow community members interested in composting. If you have any compostable food scraps, feel free to bring them! We can help feed our growing worm composter, or add them to our compost pile.

Serves the City of Milpitas South into East San Jose in the communities of Alum Rock, Berryessa, Evergreen, Silver Creek, West to Monterey Highway including a good portion of downtown San Jose, including the neighborhoods of Naglee Park and Japan Town.

Coyote Creek District has more than 74 Scouting units, and nearly 2,000 youth members. We are proud of the 98 youth who earned the Eagle Scout award in 2021.

We are so excited to announce that our project in Valle de Jesus, El Salvador is complete!

Turf is installed, childrens play structure complete and the children are elated but due to lack of internet they have not been able to share with you all.

Video and photos will follow as soon as our members are able to return to San Jose!
