Sooner or later, it seems, cancer has an impact on us all. That’s why World Cancer Day is an important day to raise awareness about prevention, detection, and treatment. You can support cancer awareness and cancer patients by talking about cancer and bringing this issue into the light, getting yourself checked, and supporting causes that help support cancer patients.

This is Lily, she is one of our recent recipients and a beloved member of the Tyler’s Grace Family. Lily overcame a very rare childhood cancer at the age of 5. She had 11 years to be an awesome, active kid - skiing, biking, running, etc. Unfortunately, Lily’s cancer returned in 2018. For the last 16 months, Lily has endured more than anyone could imagine, with chemo, radiation, and multiple surgeries to remove tumors in her chest cavity and her brain. The cancer eventually spread to the lining of her brain and spinal chord which caused her to be considered terminal.

This beautiful and brave girl had gone through so much and after we received her referral wanting to go to Tahoe for her 18th birthday we were determined to give her the best birthday ever. She was so excited about her trip that she said that she couldn’t sleep the nights leading up to her trip. When she got up to Tahoe she brought her closest friends who helped her fill the home with laughter and joy. We were able to personally deliver her gift baskets and spend some time getting to know her and her crew.

After Lily came home from her memorable trip she was inspired to help other children like herself by raising money for Tyler’s Grace Foundation! We are completely in awe of Lily’s selflessness and resilience. We worked with Lily, her mother, and some of her dear friends to bring you something completely new and exciting for us.

Welcome to Lily’s Run For a Cause.

Lily wants to create her fundraiser around the Oakland Running Festival, on March 22, 2020(SAVE THE DATE!). She ran the 5K for years, and completed her first half marathon at ORF in 2016 at the age of 14. Now, her goal is to complete the 5K, at whatever pace she can manage.

If you’re busy on that date or Oakland is too far, don’t worry! You can still support Tyler’s Grace Foundation by making a donation in Lily’s honor.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday may have passed but Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to open your heart and give back to families who need it most. This is an epic day of giving that everyone should know about!

It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of the holidays this time of year but the families that we serve need your help.

Please take a moment to donate to Tyler’s Grace Foundation so that we can help families like Lexi who we gifted this year make meaningful memories with their families. Every dollar that you donate goes directly to making experiences for these deserving families.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Checks can be made out to Tyler’s Grace Foundation and sent to the address below.

Calling all photographers!

Our event at the Corinthian Grand Ballroom in San Jose is less than two weeks away and we don’t have a photographer. Having pictures that can creatively document our celebration has always been an important part of our events. It allows us to tell our story and that in turn allows us to help more families. If you or anyone you know is interested in donating their time or providing discounted services please let us know. Thank you.

Our Story

Losing my husband at the age of 47 to terminal stomach cancer was devastating. Losing my 6 year old son 39 days later to brain cancer, changed the course of my life forever. My name is Catrina Simbe and I created Tyler’s Grace Foundation immediately after living through the devastating loss of the two most significant people in my life - my husband and my son.

Having experienced suffering at that degree is more painful than what I imagined any human being could live through. I admit, this has put my faith to the test, but it is the cross I will carry throughout the duration of my life. My family and I will always have the scars of these deep wounds. Yet, with each wound comes healing and I have found God’s purpose for me on the other side of the immeasurable, dark seas of grief. I created Tyler’s Grace Foundation for families to find a path to hope in life’s darkest moments. Channeling my pain in an effort to help others, was the birth of our mission. Throughout our journey my family has been blessed with many beautiful moments that will remain as deep imprints on my heart during the time I had with my boys. It is now my life’s goal to give this gift to other families. I encourage you to get to know my boys through their stories and the families we support through Tyler’s Grace. I share my story, my sorrow and personal experience openly so that my past pain can be of hope to others facing the destruction of cancer. Uncharted paths await me as I continue to try and navigate through this new life. The gift of Robert and Tyler's lives will remain impressed on my heart forever. Our foundation was born through their loss, but also their inspiring life. May it be a blessing to all our recipients and the families we serve.
