Sons of Sicily

Sons of Sicily There are many Italian clubs in San Jose, but not many Sicilian clubs. Lou DeFranco had a meeting at his home amongst his Sicilian friends.

The Sons of Sicily was established to share our heritage and values with all people and continue to provide a base for our youth to use as a stepping stone for the future. He had a vision of a Sicilian Club and his friends agreed. They stood behind Lou and his idea and dream. The next meeting was held and the Sons of Sicily was officially formed in November of 1974. Lou DeFranco's idea was to have

a social club which shared heritage, culture, tradition and family. To support members families and help the community. The Aiuto Foundation was established based on this premise. In celebration of the Sons of Sicily's 35th Anniversay, the Aiuto Foundation has designated the TOP educational scholarship as the "Lou DeFranco Scholarship."The Sons of Sicily of San Jose (SOS) shall exist to enable members to gather together and share in the customs, food, tradition and history of our common Sicilian heritage. The SOS is a social club in nature and shall not involve itself in activities not consistent with our stated purpose.
