During our most recent graduation, we also had the honor of recognizing some of our Leaders and Agents of Change, individuals who continue to make a positive impact in our small business community.

On this special occasion, our Executive Director, Jesus Flores, recognized Salvador Ibarra, one of the owners of Tropicana Foods, for his leadership, commitment, and continued support of local small businesses.

Salvador has been an incredible leader in the small business community, always ready to support, organize, and bring businesses together, especially in the Tropicana area. With his support and leadership, small business owners in this area have been able to come together and build a stronger, more united business community.

The Tropicana area is one of the most iconic and important small business corridors for Latino and Mexican-owned businesses in San Jose. Thanks to leaders like Salvador, this community continues to stay connected, supported, and ready to move forward together.

We recognize and thank Salvador Ibarra for his continued leadership, his commitment to our community, and all of his amazing support for small businesses. Congratulations, Salvador, and thank you for being a true Leader and Agent of Change.

Congratulations to Jazet Menjivar , owner of JZT DIVA Academy, for being one of our leaders and agents of change.

Today, Jazet received her Agent and Leader of Change recognition certificate from our Vice President, Angélica Flores, in honor of the important work she continues to do for the benefit of our community.

Through JZT Academy, and in collaboration with Latino Business Foundation Silicon Valley, Jazet offers training and empowerment programs for women, including single mothers and survivors of domestic violence. Through these programs, participants receive support, basic training, and professional makeup education, with the goal of beginning a career in the beauty and makeup industry.

Jazet also received her certificate as one of the graduates of our business education programs offered in collaboration with MOBI, My Own Business Institute at Santa Clara University.

We also had the opportunity to meet with Jazet, Angelica Flores, and Jesus Flores, our Executive Director, to discuss the new project we are developing. This program will include entrepreneurship, business education, beauty industry training, and professional childcare support for the students.

These programs will begin soon. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.

Thank you and congratulations again, Jazet, for your leadership, your commitment, and for continuing to create opportunities for more women in our community.

(Español abajo) The FIFA World Cup 2026 represents a major economic opportunity for our region, especially for small businesses, street vendors, mobile businesses, and food trucks.

Yesterday, Jesus Flores, our Executive Director, had the opportunity to speak with María Antonieta Mejía from Univision 14 about how street vendors, mobile businesses, food trucks, and small businesses can prepare.

Our main recommendations are:

✅ Verify what permits are needed to operate legally.

✅ Check where you are allowed to sell, since some areas will have special restrictions during the events.

✅ Follow official information from the city, county, and local authorities, who are working to protect the community, visitors, and vendors.

At Latino Business Foundation, we are preparing information kits with resources, recommendations, and important contact numbers.

For more information, please contact us.

We want all small businesses to benefit from this historic opportunity in a safe, organized, and positive way.

🎉 Yesterday, we celebrated the final class of our first cohort of 2026 from the “Business Management for Small Businesses” course.

This class was especially meaningful because, in addition to completing the course, our small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with our attorneys to ask important questions about contracts, insurance, business responsibilities, and many other topics that are essential when starting, managing, and protecting a small business.

Throughout the program, our students gained practical knowledge and tools to start, manage, and grow their businesses.

We are deeply grateful to My Own Business Institute (MOBI) at Santa Clara University, work2future, Excite Credit Union, our legal partners, and all of our amazing supporters. Your continued support allows us to keep delivering FREE, high-quality education, resources, and direct support to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs in our community.

👏 Congratulations to all the participants. We are proud of everything you have accomplished so far, and this is only the beginning! Jesus Flores, Angelica Flores
