Flu season has gotten worse this year with high levels & cases leading to a rise in hospitalizations & even deaths. One of the most effective ways to protect yourself from the flu is wearing a mask! As always, Mask Bloc San Jose is available in providing free masks at our library locations or for pick up/delivery at the link in our bio.

Everyone is currently required to wear masks in 'patient care areas' of hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes in Santa Clara County.

This rule applies from November 1 to March 31 of each year, when airborne illnesses like COVID and flu tend to increase. It applies to health care workers, patients, and visitors.

While surgical masks do meet the public health order requirement, KN95, KF94 and N95 masks offer much better protection.

Hospitals will be offering surgical masks to patients entering facilities, but if you would like free high quality respirator masks, Mask Bloc San Jose has some available at select public libraries and through pickup or drop off deliveries.

En este momento, todas las personas deben usar mascarillas en los hospitales, clínicas, y residencias de ancianos del condado de Santa Clara.

It's our anniversary! 😷🎉

Since we started two years ago, our goal has been the same: to provide our local community with free, high quality respirator masks. And as we continue to grow, we hope to continue expanding our reach and to provide more resources (such as rapid covid tests) to those who need them.

We also want to educate and inform our community about the spread of diseases in our county, and how best to protect themselves.

In two years, we’ve distributed 23,896 masks, 4,844 COVID rapid test kits, and fulfilled 222 orders!

A big thank you to our partners, volunteers, donors, and sibling mask blocs! 😷💪

THANK YOU, PLANET HALO HEALTH!

We’re happy to announce that we have new masks available, thanks to Planet Halo Health’s generous donations of 400 KF94 kid masks and 100 KF94 adult masks!

KF94s are Korean standards for masks that filter at least 94% of particles. They use ear loops, and come in various colors.

Planet Halo Health donated white adult masks, and white, grey, pink, and yellow kid masks.

🎉 20,000 masks distributed! 🎉

As we approach our two year anniversary, we are happy to announce that we have distributed 20,000 high quality respiratory masks to our community!

This work would not be possible without the amazing support of volunteers who have organized pick ups and who have delivered masks to libraries, events, and individuals in need of them.

Another big thank you to all the donors and partner Mask Blocs who have helped provide these incredible resources.

We still have lots of high quality respiratory masks available at select San Jose library locations (and the Sunnyvale library). If you need masks delivered to you or to a community event you’re hosting, please reach out using the request form available on our website.

We recently received a huge pallet donation of Moldex Masks, which are ready to be distributed to the community!
