📋 The PLC Makes the Program Youth-Led

The Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC)—led by the senior patrol leader—is where youth leaders plan the troop’s program and activities. Patrol leaders bring ideas from their patrols, helping shape meetings, outings, and the troop’s calendar.

When the PLC leads planning, the troop becomes truly Scout-led.

Founder’s Day honors Robert Baden-Powell and his wife Olave on their shared birthday of February 22, a day for Scouts worldwide to reaffirm their promises, reflect on Scouting's values, and perform community service, emphasizing leadership, service, and the outdoors. Baden-Powell created a movement that has grown to be very large through his everyday efforts. Think about how you can make an impact for your community

📣 Announcement: Special 250th Anniversary Eagle Scout Certificate (2026) 🇺🇸🦅

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and in recognition of Scouting America’s partnership with America250, Scouting America will present all Eagle Scouts who earn the rank in 2026 with a special commemorative Eagle Scout certificate.

This limited-edition certificate will be available only to Scouts who achieve the Eagle Scout rank during the 2026 calendar year.

✅ What Scouts and units need to know:
• The special certificate will begin issuing automatically starting February 1, 2026
• No special request is required—it will replace the standard Eagle certificate for all 2026 recipients
• Scouts who earned Eagle in January 2026 may request a reprint through their local council using the current complimentary reprint process
• Councils are asked to submit January 2026 reprint requests as a consolidated weekly list to support timely processing

Congratulations to all 2026 Eagle Scouts—this is a meaningful way to honor service, leadership, and achievement during a historic year.

Family Troop Option
Available December 15th
After completing a very successful nationwide pilot (including 20 units from the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council), a new option for organizing Scouting BSA Troops is officially launching on December 15th. The Family Troop option, if selected by a Chartering Organization, will allow Troops to register all eligible youth (boys and girls) within a single Unit. Existing single-gender troops can choose to continue operating as they are or elect to become a Family Troop. Further instructions will be sent to the leaders of ScoutsBSA Troop Key 3 shortly. Many thanks to the Troops who piloted last year and helped to pave the way for this exciting new chapter in Scouting! Contact [email protected] for more information.

Just a reminder that your clocks need to fall back an hour. That happens Saturday Night to Sunday Morning. If you are going on a campout this weekend, make sure everyone knows. It would be bad if you had to wait for your ride back to town.
