SB 337, the Sexual Assault Prevention Bill, and AB 1886, Ending Endless Probation for all Youth, were both signed by the Governor! 🎉
The passing of these bills is a win for the community!

Thank you to our legislative champions, coalition partners, members, and staff for all their hard work in getting these bills passed this legislative session.

The work continues, but for now we celebrate!

Voting season is here, y’all.

Our voices have always been part of how change happens, and voting is one of the most powerful ways to use yours. The decisions made by elected officials shape our schools, our neighborhoods, our families, our freedom, and the resources available to our communities. When we don't vote, others make those choices for us.

Our communities carry generations of knowledge, lived experience, and vision for what comes next. Carry that vision forward this election. Remember, every vote counts.

Know your power. Know your ballot. Vote.

Let’s give it up for this month’s Sister Warriors Member Feature! We are honored to highlight our sister, Nira, for this month’s Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition member feature.

The four words Nira describes herself as are Resilient. Compassionate. Outgoing. Open-Minded.

Nira is a member coming out of the Oakland Chapter. Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition is honored to know and learn from Nira!

Nira, we are grateful for your wisdom, your joy, your labor, and your love for community. We see you. We appreciate you. We celebrate you.

Please take the time to read her Q+A and get to know her better and sound off in the comments with love for our Sister.

The SWFC LA Chapter had a ball at our second annual beach day kickback at Mother’s Beach in Marina Del Ray. We had such a beautiful time sharing love, breaking bread, paddleboarding, and more as we said goodbye to summer. Thanks to all who came through! We are already counting down the time until next year’s kickback!

If you are a Sister Warrior in the LA area and want to join us at our next chapter meeting, we will be meeting at our LA meeting space on October 19th from 5PM - 6:30PM. If you are curious about joining Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition as a member and want more information, please contact [email protected].

It’s a new month, and that means another opportunity to tap into your local Sister Warriors chapter meeting.

Our chapters throughout California serve as safe spaces and political homes for many of our members. We invite you to join us in building networks of care and protection, strengthening our collective voice, growing our political power, and transforming our communities.

If you are a Sister Warrior wanting to plug in, deepen your political work, and work to organize your communities, join our Statewide chapter meeting and Come as YOU ARE. We are here to support one another. There is a role for each of us in this moment, and we are stronger when we organize together.

SWIPE to find your chapter meeting and head to the Eventbrite in the link in bio to register and join us.

We hope to see you there!

Contact [email protected] with any questions.

September Sister Warriors Chapter Recap!

September was full of connection, learning, and building across our Sister Warriors chapters.

From Oakland to San Jose, Fresno to Los Angeles, and our statewide virtual chapter, Sister Warriors are coming together to sharpen our political education, grow our leadership, and build the collective power we need to shape our communities.

A big shoutout to our chapter leads for continuing to make these spaces possible and to every Sister Warrior who showed up, brought their voice, and helped build with us.

The work keeps moving. See you in October.

Every quarter, Sister Warriors sends a copy of Warrior Wisdom, our political education mailer, to every currently incarcerated Sister Warrior across the state. We send these mailers because we believe education is a practice of freedom and to create the change and power we need to actualize the Sister Warriors Freedom Charter, we need to learn from those doing the work alongside us and the fights of our ancestors before us.

Thank you to all the Sister Warriors across the state who help make this labor of love possible!
