Open Doors to Future Possibilities was out at the Los Gatos Art and W**e Festival this weekend hosted by Kiwanis Club of Los Gatos, connecting with the community and sharing the remarkable photography of our Board Member Dr. Clyde Horn. A Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient, Dr. Horn used photography to heal from war trauma and give new meaning to his experiences, and watching people encounter his work for the first time was something special. Every donation made in exchange for a photograph supports the Veterans and families we serve every day. Being present in spaces like this one matters to us because our mission does not live only inside our walls. It lives in the community, and this weekend was a beautiful example of that. Thank you Los Gatos for welcoming us.

Today is Gold Star Mothers and Families Day. We honor the families who have lost a son, daughter, spouse, or parent in military service. The gold star they carry represents a sacrifice that no words can fully acknowledge. At Open Doors to Future Possibilities, we extend our deepest gratitude and respect to every Gold Star Family. Their love and their loss are woven into the fabric of this nation, and will be remembered always.

Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. We pause to honor the American service members who were held as prisoners of war, and those whose fate remains unknown. Their sacrifice represents one of the deepest forms of service, and our obligation to remember them does not diminish with time. Open Doors to Future Possibilities stands in solidarity with POW and MIA families and reaffirms our commitment to serving all who have given in service to this country. You are not forgotten.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month, and we want to use this time to speak directly to the Veterans in our community. The rate of Veteran su***de in this country is a crisis, and it is one that Open Doors to Future Possibilities takes seriously every single day. Our work in mental fitness, trauma healing, and personal empowerment exists because we believe no Veteran should face their darkest moments alone. If you or someone you love is struggling, please reach out. The Veterans Crisis Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can reach out to Open Doors by phone at (408) 564-7174, or the Veterans Crisis Line by calling or texting 988 and pressing 1.

On this day, we remember. September 11th, 2001 marked a turning point in American history, and the courage shown by first responders, civilians, and service members in the days, months, and years that followed defines the very best of who we are as a nation. At Open Doors to Future Possibilities, we are honored to serve the Veterans and first responders whose lives were shaped by that call to service. Today and every day, we will never forget.

We have exciting news to share. Open Doors to Future Possibilities has officially established the Silicon Valley Open Doors Lions Club, and we celebrated its Charter Night on August 29th at our San Jose office. The evening brought together Lions leaders, community dignitaries, a barbecue dinner, live music, and a performance by the Swingin' Blue Stars. Our Founder and Executive Director Dr. Simone Lundquist was installed as club president, and we could not be more proud of what this new chapter means for the Veterans, women, and families we serve. Through this affiliation with Lions Clubs International, we are expanding our ability to distribute essential supplies, host mental fitness workshops, and grow the partnerships that make our work possible. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us.

Last month, we brought one of our gala auction experiences to life at the iconic Flintstone House. Guests gathered for an evening of w**e, connection, and conversation with the people behind the Open Doors to Future Possibilities mission. Dr. Simone Lundquist spoke about the power of community and the progress Open Doors has made over the past seven and a half years. It was a special night, and a great example of what our gala bids make possible.
