If you have questions or comments concerning your membership in the Local Union, please contact the L270 directly at (408) 297-2620. Local 270 is chartered by the Laborers International Union of North America, AFL-CIO. The International Union headquarters are located in Washington, D.C., with chartered Locals throughout the United States, Canada, and in the South Pacific. The first recorded meetin

g of Local 270 was held on August 5, 1916. Then on November 1, 1982 the Local 234 General Laborers (Santa Cruz) merged with the Laborers Local 270. The Laborers Local 270 later broadened their horizons even more when they merged with the Local 760 (San Mateo County Cement Mill Workers), and the Local 283 (Santa Cruz Construction and General Laborers). Since that time, the Local has been providing representation and support for all our members in the Bay area. We represent employees in both construction and industrial occupations, and in both the private and public sectors. Our member's skills range from heavy equipment operator to laboratory technician, from city workers to policemen. Our geographic jurisdiction covers the California counties of San Benito, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Monterey. We have offices in Salinas, San Jose and Santa Cruz, California. Through the collective voice of our membership, we promote the election of local, state and federal politicians who support legislation and government policy which is beneficial to working men and women. We seek to focus our voting power toward aiding those who share and support the values and ideals of working families. We stand on the principle that only through concerted voice and action can workers maintain a fair, just and equitable partnership with their employers in the work place. We contend that all men and women have the right to organize for their own benefit, free from coercion and intimidation. We endeavor to further the interests, not only of those hard working men and women we directly represent, but all working people. We welcome all those who wish to organize, and extend our hand to help all those who want to help themselves.

WE’RE ONE STEP CLOSER! 🇺
Xavier Becerra has advanced to November and is one step closer to becoming California’s first Laborer Governor. Sylvia Arenas won reelection outright, and Peter Ortiz is leading his race.
Thank you to every LIUNA Local 270 member, retiree, family member, and volunteer who helped make this happen.
This victory belongs to all of us.
Now, let’s keep the momentum going and finish the job in November.

WE DID IT!
Tonight, we celebrate a major victory for working families, laborers, and everyone who believes in the power of unity.
Our candidate, Xavier Becerra, has advanced from California's primary election and is one step closer to becoming Governor of California.
This achievement belongs to every volunteer who knocked on doors, every member who made phone calls, every retiree who spread the message, and every laborer who took the time to vote.
As Xavier said tonight:
"The California Dream is alive. And we're just getting started."
While ballots are still being counted, one thing is already clear: when working people stand together, we win.
Thank you to every LIUNA Local 270 member, retiree, family member, friend, and supporter who helped make this moment possible. This victory belongs to all of us.
But the job isn't finished.
Tonight we celebrate.
Tomorrow we organize.
And in November, we finish what we started.
The victory is ours. See you in November.

If You fight You Win!!
Today is the day, brothers & sisters!

As the son of a union worker, I grew up understanding the value of organized labor and the sacrifices generations of workers made to secure the right to unionize.

Strong unions are more than workplace protections—they are a pillar of our democracy and one of the most powerful tools working people have to build a better life.

From the workers who keep our ports moving to the workers who keep our economy running, I am committed to fighting for fair wages, strong unions, safe workplaces, and real opportunity for families across California.

TODAY IS THE DAY, BROTHERS & SISTERS!

The future of California is in our hands. Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and every LIUNA member has the power to make a difference.

Xavier Becerra is one of us. He understands the value of hard work, the sacrifices made by working families, and the men and women who built California from the ground up.

Today, let’s show the strength of our UNION at the ballot box.

• Drop off your ballot at an official polling location
• Vote in person before 8:00 PM
• Encourage your fellow Laborers to do the same

Every vote matters. Every Laborer counts. Every voice deserves to be heard.

Stand up. Show up. Vote.

"When laborers vote, laborers win."
Meet Noe Gonzalez, proud LIUNA Local 270 member, who is encouraging every brother, sister, retiree, family member, and friend to make their voice heard at the ballot box.
For Noe, supporting Xavier Becerra is about supporting someone who understands working families, union values, and the importance of protecting good jobs, strong benefits, and opportunities for future generations.
Xavier Becerra is the son of a laborer, a union member himself, and a leader who understands where we come from and what working people need to succeed.
Join Noe Gonzalez and thousands of laborers across California.
Vote. Bring your family. Bring your friends. Help build a stronger future for working families.

Our Retiree Members are the foundation of LIUNA Local 270.
Every paycheck earned, every project completed, and every opportunity we have today was built through their years of hard work, sacrifice, and solidarity.
This week, our retired brothers and sisters gathered for their monthly retirees meeting, where they welcomed Business Manager Enrique Arguello and Assistant Business Manager Luis Arguello to share updates and continue strengthening the bond that makes our union family strong.
After the meeting, retirees enjoyed time together at their space inside Local 270 — sharing stories, laughter, and memories that helped shape the proud legacy of our union.
We honor and thank our retiree members for building the path for future generations of laborers.

California could elect its first Laborer Governor — and LIUNA Local 270 is ready to make history.
Last night, LIUNA Local 270 held its monthly Membership Meeting, where brothers and sisters gathered to stay informed and united.
Before the meeting, retired member Ricardo Millan “El Buñuelo” prepared steamed beef tacos for the members in attendance, reflecting the brotherhood that defines our union.
Business Manager Enrique Arguello opened the meeting with updates on the state of our local and ongoing activities. Assistant Business Manager Luis Arguello then spoke about the importance of supporting Xavier Becerra for Governor of California, reminding members that Becerra is one of us — the son of a laborer and a union member himself.
Luis also encouraged support for Peter Ortiz and Sylvia Arenas, strong allies of working families and labor unions.
The night ended with the traditional raffle of LIUNA Local 270 souvenirs for members in attendance.
