A tragic event took the life of one of our brothers. RIP.

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Billy Gallagher, field representative for the CFA Pomona chapter who passed away yesterday following a tragic accident near CSU Chancellor’s Office on Tuesday, July 21st.

Billy dedicated himself to the work of this union and to the faculty he served at Cal Poly Pomona. We will remember Billy as someone who showed up—whether for faculty grievances, for organizing campaigns, and for countless quiet moments of support for members and for his CFA colleagues. His commitment to faculty rights and to the labor movement left a mark on this organization, and everyone who had the chance to work with him.

Our hearts go out to Billy’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. Rest in power Billy 🤍

The Chancellor's Office insist on raises for executives, but heavier workloads, cutbacks on benefits, and lower pay (when accounting for inflation) for faculty and staff.

BARGAINING UPDATE: Management returned to the bargaining table today with a weak salary proposal and a plan to cut health benefits, even after Governor Newsom signed a state budget that includes a $365.7 million (or 7%) increase in new funding for the CSU.

After 16 months of bargaining, we are more than disappointed. We’re just plain insulted.

The federal government has ignored important environmental concerns and federal laws regarding the leased property in Gilroy. That is why today, California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Santa Clara County Counsel Tony LoPresti filed a lawsuit seeking to block the illegal development of the ICE facility. They asked the court to permanently halt construction of this facility, claiming that it violates the National Environmental Policy Act, the Immigration and Nationality Act, the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, and California’s Williamson Act.
