Annual Backpack Drive — A Heartfelt Thank You ❤

Wow! Our Annual Backpack Drive on August 1, 2026, was an incredible success!
This year, we received the largest donation of backpacks and school supplies we have ever had, and we are truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our amazing community. Because of all of you, we were able to make an even bigger difference in the lives of children in need.

A very special thank you to Daniel Orlando Jimenez and his wonderful family! You all went above and beyond to help children experiencing homelessness. Your extra backpacks and school supplies were incredibly generous and deeply appreciated. Billy, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! Daniel, Betty, and the kids, thank you for helping with the setup. You all did an amazing job!

A heartfelt thank you as well to Dennis & Carol Whalen, David Loredo & Denxielle, Robert & Rosario Murillo Carbajal, Melissa Martinez, Isaac Rodriguez, Art & Barron, Elijah, Marti, and Tehya, for your generous donations.

Another huge thank you to our wonderful sponsors, Peninsula Appliance Repair, West Coast Mechanical and Parti for your generous monetary donations. Your yearly generosity means so much to us and helps make our Easter, Backpack Drive and Christmas even more successful for the kids! A sincere thank you to everyone who brought their beautiful vehicles and donated backpacks and school supplies. Your generosity, kindness, and willingness to participate helped make this year’s Backpack Drive our biggest and most successful one yet!

We were so excited to exceed our expectations this year! Not only were we able to donate backpacks and school supplies to our homeless shelter, but for the first time, we were also able to provide backpacks and school supplies to our farmworker children. We were also able to surprise the moms with $25 each, which made the day even more special.
A big thank you to everyone who dressed in their 1950s attire! You all looked absolutely amazing! Your enthusiasm and participation made the event even more special and created such a fun and memorable atmosphere.

We love and appreciate each and every one of you. None of this would be possible without your generosity, compassion, and continued support. ❤

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who came out to eat at La Milpa Mexican Restaurant. The restaurant was packed, and the owner truly appreciated everyone’s support. The surrounding businesses benefited as well, so thank you for supporting our local community. We look forward to hosting another event there in the future!

Wow! Our Annual Backpack Drive Was an Incredible Success! Our Show 'N Shine supporting La Milpa Restaurant and the surrounding businesses, along with our Backpack & School Supply Drive for a local homeless shelter in San Jose, was an incredible success!

This year, we received the largest donation of backpacks and school supplies we've ever had. We are truly overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of our amazing community.

Because of your donations, we've been able to expand our efforts beyond the shelter. We are now also working with an organization that serves farmworker families, which currently has 24 children in need of backpacks and school supplies. The homeless shelter will also be providing us with their list of children soon.

This morning, we were reminded why this work is so important. We ran into a young single father we who is raising two children while renting a small room from someone. He's the kind of person who is too humble to ask for help. While he was on the phone, I asked his son if he had a backpack for school. He quietly replied, "No... and I don't have any school clothes either." His father stopped to talk to me and placed his call on hold, I told him we'd like to give his son a backpack. He said he would stop by later today and was very grateful. We'd also like to surprise him with a monetary or a gift to help purchase school clothes for his son. His younger child isn't in school yet. When we have our Christmas celebration for our homeless kids we will add his two kids on the list, but we hope to continue supporting this family however we can.

If we have extra backpacks after fulfilling our current requests, we hope to help the McKinney-Vento Program as well. Our daughter, Melissa, has a wonderful neighbor who is a teacher. Like so many educators, she spends her own money to provide school supplies for her students, and she also knows children who could benefit from additional support.

We cannot thank you enough for your continued support. None of this would be possible without each and every one of you.

At the end of the day, this isn't about a car club. It's about coming together as one to help our community and making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
