Bialetti plans its first U.S. stores as Italian coffee icon expands in 2027

Bialetti, the historic coffee company founded in 1919, plans to open its first American retail stores beginning in 2027, bringing its iconic moka pots and Italian coffee culture directly to U.S. consumers.

Most people picture Ellis Island’s Great Hall. But this narrow passageway tells another part of the story.

Ellis Island was more than one building. A network of covered corridors and passageways connected parts of the immigration station and hospital complex. Immigrants who were detained for illness or further examination could find themselves separated from the crowds—and sometimes from their own families—as they moved through the complex.

These passageways were practical, but today they are a haunting reminder of how enormous the immigration operation at Ellis Island became. For millions of newcomers, the island represented hope. For others, it meant uncertainty, medical examinations, detention, and an anxious wait to learn whether they would be allowed to enter America.

Imagine arriving after crossing an ocean and walking through a place like this without knowing what would happen next.
