Asian Law Alliance Established in 1977, ALA is a non-profit organization providing equal access to the justice system. PLEASE CALL AHEAD.

Our schedule for intakes (phone calls and walk-ins) are subject to change. We offer services in Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Korean and other languages as needed. Intake Schedule:
Monday: 1:00 - 3:30 PM
Tuesday: 9:00 - 11:30 AM; 1-3:30 PM
Wednesday: 9:00 - 11:30 AM
Thursday: 9:00 - 11:30 AM
Friday: 9:00 - 11:30 AM

Legal Services:

-ALA programs are designed to make legal services accessible to Asian/Pacific Islanders and low-income people.

-Delivering services in Asian/Pacific Islander languages.

-Providing consultation and legal representation on a free or low-cost basis.

Yesterday, ALA was honored at the People Acting in Community Together (PACT) Luncheon. ALA’s Executive Director, Richard Konda, accepted the award on behalf of ALA.

Drawing on his family’s experience with Japanese American incarceration during World War II, Richard highlighted parallels to current immigration enforcement and called for continued advocacy for immigrant communities.

“Let’s all pledge that we will work for comprehensive immigration reform that will create a path to citizenship for farmworkers, home care workers, roofers, janitorial workers, construction workers, DACA recipients, and all undocumented immigrants.”

Thank you to Father Jon and the PACT Board of Directors for recognizing ALA’s work. We also extend our gratitude to Assemblymember Ash Kalra (Ash Kalra) and Supervisor Betty Duong (Betty Duong) for recognizing ALA.

If you're already a registered voter, expect to receive your Vote-By-Mail ballot starting this week. Return your ballot as soon as you receive it to your nearest official voting drop box or take it to the Registrar of Voters.

The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters (1555 Berger Dr, Bldg. 2, San Jose, CA 95112) will be open for starting October 5th from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Daniela, a cook and a mother to 3 children, came to ALA when her landlord refused to return money he owed her. The unit she had moved into was infested with roaches. ALA’s housing attorney helped Daniela complete forms to file a lawsuit, organize her evidence, understand what to expect in court, request a Spanish-speaking interpreter, and ask for all of the money she deserved. Daniela received $6,000 — All of her money back, plus one month’s worth of rent.
