Mini Cat Town

Mini Cat Town Mini Cat Town is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that specializes in rehabilitating orphaned neonatal kittens. We watched this happen over and over again.

Visit our Adoption Lounge at the Eastridge Shopping Center in San Jose, CA Mini Cat Town is a non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue founded by three sisters: Thi, Thoa, and Tram Bui. Mini Cat Town is located inside Eastridge Center in San Jose. We are registered as a rescue partner with the City of San Jose. From the Co-Founders:

We have been rescuing animals for as long as we can remember. We grew up in s

outh San Jose, in a rough neighborhood that was overrun by stray and feral cats. As young children, we would save our $1 per week allowance to purchase food to care for the neighborhood cats. We would find kittens, take care of them until they were old enough to find a home, and then find families to adopt them. We did the best we could with what we had at the time. As we got older, the issue in our neighborhood continued to grow rapidly. The stray and feral cats had kittens and those kittens would grow up to have more, in a never-ending cycle. Once we were teenagers, we got jobs at our local Baskin Robbins because we needed the money to help our community cats. We educated ourselves on population control and learned how to humanely trap the cats, have them spayed/neutered at our city animal shelter, and release them. This program was called Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR). By doing this, cats in our neighborhood would be able to live out their lives without continuously reproducing and overpopulating the neighborhood. We worked at Baskin Robbins throughout high school and saved up funds to put every single cat and kitten in our neighborhood through the TNR program. By the time we graduated, all 100+ of the feral and stray cats in our neighborhood had gone through TNR. All of the kittens we found during this time were rehabilitated, fixed, and placed in forever homes. As college students, we started independently fostering on a small scale and documenting our work on social media. We raised kittens we found or that were given to us and placed them in homes. It wasn’t until we posted a video of our dog, Lilo, cuddling with our foster kitten, Rosie, that our whole world turned upside down! The video went viral and our social media exploded. This allowed us to continue our work on a much larger scale. Through generous donations and the support of our online and immediate community, we officially established Mini Cat Town in December of 2015. Since then, we have dedicated our lives to rescuing neonatal kittens, who are the most at-risk population in shelters. Every year, during kitten season, over 5000 orphaned neonatal kittens pour into the shelter during the warmer months because of the overpopulation of stray and feral cats in communities just like the one we grew up in. We hope to build a large enough organization and facilities to help every kitten in our community. Mini Cat Town is, by far, our greatest achievement and we are proud to have made it this far! Please consider supporting us by making a tax-deductible donation to our rescue efforts! We encourage everyone to join us in the fight against millions of suffering, unwanted kittens born to unspayed cats each year. Ask your local shelter about TNR programs, volunteer by socializing cats/dogs, foster an animal, or donate! Looking to adopt? Rescue a kitten! We believe big changes start with small efforts and our combined efforts today can change the world tomorrow. Ask yourself, how can you advocate for a kitten today? Mini Cat Town’s adoption lounge is OPEN as of Friday, September 4th, 2020 following all state and county regulations for social distancing. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application at www.minicattown.org and wait for approval to schedule an appointment with us. All unapproved applicants are subject to admission fees.

You guys, it’s and we NEED to update you on Smiski! Remember when we posted about her? Here’s a summary: She’s had persistently high white blood cells, recurring infections, and cycles of extreme itchiness where she scratches herself raw, including her eyes, mouth, ears, armpits, legs... even chewing at her toes. She’s seen all the specialties including dermatology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and we’ve run possibly every test possible. Biopsies, treatments, diet trials, you name it. At one point, she had an appointment with UC Davis infectious disease, but they reviewed her case and called us to cancel the appointment, saying we had already done everything they would recommend. She’s also never grown past 7 Ibs, and has been living our foster’s bathroom since November to help manage her condition. Her skin peels everywhere and they have to clean and medicate her multiple times a day.
But since starting her new medication, atopica, she has shown significant improvement! She has a ton of energy, all her fur grew back, she no longer itches or has to wear a cones, and she hasn’t had a flare up. We’re really hopeful that she’ll be ready for adoption soon! Special thank you to her fosters .zuko.adventures and for taking such diligent care of her and our vet, Dr. G for switching her to this medication after trying everything else! ❤️
