Kicking off our Heart of RNPA Nurse Leader Series with Jaclyn Visaya, RN. Jackie serves as RNPA’s Publications Chair and works in the emergency department at Regional Medical Center, where she brings creativity and dedication to both patient care and member communications. She plays a key role in connecting and engaging members through publications and digital outreach. Outside of work, Jackie is expecting twins and is passionate about advocating for animal adoption after rescuing her dog, Zelda (pictured above), from County of Santa Clara Animal Services.

Thank you to everyone who joined RNPA in Sacramento to advocate for safe staffing and the protection of our public hospitals. We met with Assemblymembers and other elected officials to request funding from the state to address the $700 million deficit threatening patient care and frontline staff. Your voices made a difference in standing up for nurses, patients, and our communities.

A big thank you to John Langlais, Manager of Lazy Dog Almaden, for partnering with RNPA and participating in Nurses Week! Lazy Dog Almaden will be offering nurses a 15% discount on 5/7, 5/11, and 5/12 for the entire day, excluding alcoholic beverages.

This is a great option for nurses who cannot make the scheduled RNPA treat times or who want to continue celebrating with friends and family.

To honor you, RNPA will be hosting Nurses Week activities at all County locations every weekday from May 6 through May 12. We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate you throughout the week.

Through contract negotiations, the Professional Development Fund and Tuition Reimbursement were combined into a single fund, providing up to $1,800 per fiscal year for coded RNs and $2,600 for coded CRNAs, CNSs, and NPs. RNPA recently worked with County Labor Relations to resolve an access issue, and all nurses can now claim the full negotiated amounts.

If your Tuition Reimbursement exceeds $1,200, complete the Employee Education Reimbursement Form on RNPA’s website, obtain your manager’s signature, and email it to [email protected]. For Professional Development funds, download the PDF fund form. Make sure to get reimbursed for your education and fill out those forms!
