The seats up for election are Vice President, Treasurer, Continuing Education Chair, Publications Chair, Negotiator, and Area Representative Chair.

RNPA welcomes Briana Gallo as our new Communication Coordinator! Born and raised in San Jose, Briana’s experience spans marketing and communications. Her work has included supporting Bay Area businesses, nonprofits, labor organizations, and public-sector groups. She first connected with RNPA during the 2025 Measure A campaign, where she developed a passion for advocating for nurses and the communities they serve.

In her role, Briana leads RNPA’s social media and newsletters, helps organize events, and connects with members and community partners. With a sister who is a nurse and family members who receive care at Valley Medical Center, healthcare advocacy is personal to Briana, and she is passionate about supporting nurses and the work they do for our community. Welcome to the team, Briana!

PPC voting is underway! RNPA members can vote at any RNPA polling location within their hospital group during their scheduled election dates. Polls will be held at different units throughout the election period, and you can vote at any unit hosting the polls within your hospital or facility. Voting schedules will be emailed to each voting group during the week of their election.

The Professional Performance Committee gives RNPA-represented nurses a voice in supporting our practice, profession and patients. Committee members meet monthly and receive paid release time or compensatory time off to represent and advocate for nurses and safe, high-quality patient care.

• O’Connor Hospital: September 21–25
• Saint Louise Regional Hospital: September 28–October 2
• Regional Medical Center: October 5–9
• Custody Health: October 13–16
• Advanced Practice: Hospital voting dates above, plus October 19–23

It only takes two minutes to make your voice heard! RNPA is urging everyone to contact Governor Gavin Newsom and ask him to sign AB 1383, legislation that supports the public employees who keep our communities safe and running, including firefighters, emergency responders, nurses, and other essential public servants.

AB 1383 has passed both the California Assembly and Senate and now awaits action from Governor Newsom. Show your support for the people who serve our communities every day!

Patient safety starts with nurses. Every day, nurses are on the front lines, monitoring patients, catching changes early, speaking up about concerns and making sure patients receive the care they need. The best advocate for your safety as a patient is the nurse who is with you every step of the way.

This World Patient Safety Day, RNPA recognizes our members for the essential role they play in keeping patients safe. Safe care requires safe staffing and the resources nurses need to do their jobs well. Thank you to our nurses for advocating for their patients and for each other. 💙
