Walk San Jose

Walk San Jose Let’s make San Jose more walkable, one step at a time!

California Walks has worked in San Jose since 2012 to develop, better coordinate, and strengthen pedestrian safety efforts and walkability in neighborhoods across the city. Still, San Jose remains the largest city in California without a dedicated, staffed walk advocacy organization. At the same time, pedestrian fatalities in the city continue to increase, accounting for nearly half of all traffic

fatalities in San Jose since 2014. Given the urgency of addressing these issues, San Jose needs to develop the capacity and impetus to improve walkability, bikeability, and traffic safety, especially as the city's population grows. Cal Walks has established the Walk San Jose program to leverage and localize the organization’s track record across the state and country. Walk San Jose taps into existing relationships with City and County staff, partner organizations, and community members to serve as a linchpin organization for walkability efforts in San Jose.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT! WE APPRECIATE YOU! 💛💛

This month, we raised $1447 for MORE pedestrian and bicycle safety trainings, MORE walking & biking infrastructure assessments, and MORE community-led infrastructure changes to San Jose.

Since being launched in 2017, Walk San Jose has worked to bring safety improvements and programs in support of walking and biking in partnership with community members, local organizations, and the City of San Jose. Your ongoing support continues our work to create safe, just, and inclusive streets and public spaces! THANK YOU! (celebratory emoji)

(3 of 3) Did you know? Our post crash guide is now available in Spanish and Vietnamese! 🎉🎉🎉

In many cities, post-crash resource guides, such as the guides created by Los Angeles Walks and Walk San Francisco, have helped survivors and those bereaved by road crashes understand what are the next steps to take and where to find legal and mental health services.

Inspired by these guides, Walk San Jose compiled a Post-Crash Resource Guide that aims to provide San Jose-specific resources for survivors of crashes and/or those who have suddenly lost a loved one to a road crash.

Find the guide at: calwalks.org/walk-san-jose under "Resources". For more information, please reach out to Theresa at [email protected].
