The Shasta Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association is a volunteer-based community organization, founded in 1985 to protect and advance the interests of the Shasta Hanchett Park, St. The Shasta / Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association is a volunteer-based community organization founded in 1985. S/HPNA provides and promotes programs and activities aimed at building community and fostering civic involvement in this historic community.

The general election is November 3rd. Some important dates to keep in mind:

- Vote-by-mail ballots are mailed out October 5th.
- Early voting begins at County Registrar's Office October 5th
- Vote Centers are open October 24th - November 3rd
- Last Day to vote is Election Day, November 3rd

Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon on Sunday, October 4th

It's the first weekend in October, so it's once again time for the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon to come through the neighborhood.

All residents along the route should have received a mailer detailing the route, parking limitations, and street closures. Sadly, that is sometimes not the case.

Street closures within the neighborhood start at 7:00 am, with the last of them lifted at 2:00 pm.

- The Alameda - Between Stockton Ave and Naglee Ave
- Naglee Ave - Between The Alameda and Park Ave, Between Garden Drive and Dana Ave
- Park Ave - Between Naglee Ave and Hedding St

The District 6 Neighborhood Leaders Group (D6NLG) and Westminster Presbyterian Church, San Jose, are hosting a presentation by the League of Women Voters on the November ballot measures.

A non-partisan presentation by the League of Women Voters, which will cover five ballot measures, followed by a Q&A session:

- Prop 43: Local Special Tax Vote Thresholds

SHPNA Board of Directors Meeting on Wednesday, September 23rd

The Shasta Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association (SHPNA) Board of Directors will host its monthly Meeting on Wednesday, September 23rd. In addition to updates from our elected officials, the Board will discuss neighborhood parks and upcoming events.

San Jose Bike Party Tonight (Friday, September 18th)

This evening's San Jose Bike Party ride will come through the neighborhood.

After starting at 8:00 pm at Roosevelt Park and going through downtown on San Fernando, the riders will turn South on Montgomery around 8:30 pm, before coming up Park Avenue to Hedding. They will then take the Guadalupe River Trail back downtown.

- Starts at Tamien Station at 8:00 pm
- N on Lick
- W on Willow
- S on Lincoln Ave
- W on Pine / Hamilton
- N on Meridian
- E on Fruitdale
- N on Race
- W on Parkmoor to the rest stop at the Foodmaxx parking lot

Route into (second leg):
- Leave Foodmax between 9:00 and 9:30 pm
- W on Parkmoor
- N on Leigh / Shasta
- N on Park to Santa Clara University
- S on The Alameda
- E on West Santa Clara
- S on Almaden
- W on Woz to rest stop at Discovery Meadow
