Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) An award-winning Bay Area nonprofit working to interrupt the pipeline to prison for youth.

Founded in 2000, Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) is an award-winning nonprofit serving Bay Area youth involved in the juvenile justice system and those at risk. We educate them about the law and their rights, give them positive mentors and role models, and support them to become leaders among their peers and in their communities. We are also committed to helping our juvenile justice systems become more just, humane, and equitable. As a result, FLY increases safety in our communities and decreases the costs and consequences of crime. Our vision is for a country where all kids grow up valued and supported, and the pipeline to prison is replaced with meaningful opportunities for them to live healthy, free, and productive lives.

Last month at our staff retreat, we made space to slow down, reconnect, and pour back into the people who pour so much into our youth and our work every day. Staff got to choose from a variety of creative healing workshops, spend time together, and just breathe.

So grateful for this hardworking, dedicated team and all the heart they bring to FLY. 🦋

Join us for a Voter Workshop Series focused on understanding the election process and how you can get involved in your local community!

This series is primarily for TAY (transition aged youth) ages 18–25, but youth ages 16–18 are also welcome to join and learn more about the process. Whether you can make it to one session or several, you’re welcome to participate!

The FLY Team was out in community in Burlingame last week for an evening full of magic! ✨

We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us, including Councilmember Donna Coulson, Supervisor Lisa Gauthier, Mayor Brownrigg, director Mark Manning with the Odyssey documentary, and many others who not just took the time to learn more about our work but also speak out in support of it.

A special thank you to our incredible youth alumni who represented FLY and shared their voices, experiences, and leadership. Also grateful to our Board members and staff who helped make the event such a success.

What makes a corporate partnership truly valuable? 🤔

Next week on September 14, FLY’s Vice President of Development, Laksmi Lagares, will join fundraisers from across Northern California for the inaugural Northern California Philanthropy Summit, where she’ll lead a session on “The Mutual Value Audit: Reframing Corporate Partnerships for Sustainable Impact.”

At FLY, we believe strong partnerships go beyond a transaction. The most meaningful partnerships create shared value while helping advance a common vision for young people, families, and communities. Laksmi will explore how nonprofits can approach corporate partnerships with a focus on mutual benefit, long-term impact, and sustainability.
