The Grateful Garment Project

The Grateful Garment Project We provide resources for survivors of sexual violence to guide them on a healing journey.

Victims of sexual assault may be required to give up their clothing for forensic evidence as a part of their Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) examination. This can leave victims with nothing to wear home after such an atrocious act against their persons, adding insult to injury. The Grateful Garment Project's mission is to ensure that every client that crosses the threshold of the SART facility

is provided with whatever new clothing, toiletry and snack items they may require to reduce any additional impact on their being. There is a great need for new clothing (socks, panties, t-shirts, sweat pants, bras) and slippers/flip flops, in various sizes, for clients to wear home after they have surrender theirs clothing items as forensic evidence. Donations of money to purchase the above mentioned items and/or new clothing items are glad accepted!! Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is the organization that investigates allegations of sexual assault for victims of all ages, race and gender. The SART facility provides emergency comprehensive medical/forensic victim examinations and expert witness testimony following allegations of sexual assault.

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, wear denim to take a visible stand against victim-blaming and show survivors they are not alone. Denim Day is an annual international campaign that began after a 1992 Italian Supreme Court ruling overturned a r**e conviction, arguing that because the victim wore tight jeans, she must have helped remove them—implying consent. Enraged by the verdict, the women in the Italian Parliament arrived at work the next day wearing denim in solidarity with the victim.

"Today is Sexual Assault Awareness Month ( ) Day of Action"

At The Grateful Garment Project, we’re wearing teal to make a statement: We believe victims.

Sexual violence thrives in silence and isolation. By wearing teal today, we are signaling to our community that we are committed to building a world rooted in consent, safety, and respect.

It’s more than just a color—it’s a commitment to:
📚Education: Learning the nuances of digital and physical consent.
🤝Support: Uplifting the voices of those who have been silenced.
🔄Change: Challenging the systems that allow violence to persist.

Today, we wear teal to honor the resilience of victims and the tireless work of forensic nurses and advocates. We take action to provide victims with:
🩵Dignity: New, clean clothes to replace what was left behind after a forensic exam..
🩵Comfort: Basic essentials that facilitate the first steps of healing.
🩵Compassion: Letting victims know their community cares about their recovery.

Will you take action with us? A small donation provides a "Dignity Kit" to someone in need today.

🙏Huge shoutout to an incredible crew of our Weekend Warriors (volunteers from One Brick, along with the additional community members) who showed up and made a massive impact! 🙌

A very special THANK YOU to One Brick for doing an absolutely amazing job supporting our latest bulk clothing orders.

From counting and tagging incoming T-Shirts, sweatpants, and sweatshirts to organizing everything with precision and care — this team handled it all like pros. They also tackled detailed inventory spot-counts of women’s sweatpants, bras, and underwear, helping ensure everything is accurate and ready to serve our community.

We’re so grateful for the hardworking volunteers from One Brick, and the community members who jumped in to help. Your time, energy, and teamwork truly make a difference. 💙
Such a great group. Such meaningful impact. Thank you all!

💗 When a victim leaves a SART crisis center, their clothing is taken as evidence leaving them with no warm socks, no clean underwear, no clothes to wear home — just the weight of starting over.

Following her exam, one of the first things a victim received was a small care bundle: new soft leggings, new undergarments, and a new shirt. She later shared that it was the first moment she felt human again — not just a victim, but a person worthy of comfort and dignity. A reminder that healing begins with small moments of care.

This Valentine’s season, you can help create that same moment for someone who just experienced the trauma of sexual violence. Show your kindness and love in action by making a donation or volunteering your time to keep our Closets for Care stocked.

Every item says: You are safe. You matter. You deserve comfort.
✨ Ways to give love in action:
• Donate new items from our wish list
• Make a monetary gift to fund survivor care packages
• Choose Buy One, Give One — purchase essentials and send the same dignity to someone starting over
