tLike many non-profits, ATA depends upon the financial support of our members and community, who are committed to supporting tapestry and the many ways in which ATA works to promote the art form through exhibitions, awards, education, and publications. ATA has teamed up with a few members to create an opportunity for you to support the organization by purchasing donated items on view at https://www.americantapestryalliance.org/support-ata/. Check it out, as you might find a valuable tool, a source of inspiration, or a wonderful work of art. Interested in learning more about how to donate an item? Email: [email protected].

ATA is looking for online instructors to lead workshops. This is an ideal format for those seeking to develop a new workshop model but might want to test it out before scaling it into a lengthy series, or for those instructors looking to introduce their teaching approaches and skills to a new audience. Ideally, the workshop is held over two days, one week apart. The first day is mainly spent sharing inspiration and skills (no more than 6 hours of instructional time), and the second day is more of a review or show and tell (no more than 2 hours). Instructors will get paid ATA's daily rate of instruction in addition to a small honorarium for lesson planning. We welcome workshops focusing on specific techniques, introductory methods to tapestry, and tapestry adjacent/related content.
Email [email protected] to learn more about this opportunity.

Thinking Through Tapestry is a juried exhibition featuring work that celebrates, explores, and builds upon specialized techniques often associated with tapestry. Thinking Through Tapestry invites artists to submit work exploring discontinuous weft-faced woven processes rooted in tapestry techniques, such as wedge weave, pulled tapestry, the use of hachures, or other structures, including the H.V. (Handarbetets Vänner) technique, also known as the Theo Moorman technique. The exhibition seeks to highlight work illustrating the close relationship between tapestry weaving*, drawing, painting, and sculpture. Experimentation and inclusion of additional materials (such as clay, steel, or wood) are encouraged and welcome; however, the majority of the submitted work must incorporate mostly handwoven work. Jurors: Emily Silver and Erin M. Riley

Opening: May 31, 2026 1-4 pm
Exhibition Dates: May 30-June 28
