A legacy of power, purpose, and community! 🏆

Con mucho orgullo, we present the Chicana Latina Foundation as this year’s recipient of the Carmen Castellano Community Based Organization of the Year Award!

This award recognizes a Latina-led, community-based organization doing exemplary work to transform our local Latina community. It honors the memory and legacy of Carmen Castellano by uplifting those who dedicate themselves to leadership development, organization support, and youth mentorship.

Through their scholarship programs, leadership institutes, and community advocacy, the Chicana Latina Foundation exemplifies the heart of this award.

We especially honor the extraordinary leadership and legacy of two longtime CLF leaders: Dr. Adriana Ayala, Executive Director, and Olga Talamante, Founder and former Executive Director, whose commitment to Latina leadership and collective power has helped shape CLF’s enduring impact.

Please join us in honoring their extraordinary contributions at our 16th Annual Brunch:

Hispanic Heritage Month runs September 15 through October 15, and the start date is no accident. It was chosen because five Central American countries mark their independence on September 15, with Mexico, Chile, and Belize following right after. It began as a week under President Johnson in 1968 and was expanded to a full month under President Reagan in 1988.

Independence days in the window:

September 15: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua
September 16: Mexico
September 18: Chile
September 21: Belize

This month we celebrate the generations who came before us, the language and traditions they carried, and the leaders building what comes next. Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana.
