California Conference for Women Harnessing the collective wisdom, experience and energy of inspirational

Diana Nyad became the first person in history to swim from Cuba to Florida — unprotected, through shark-infested waters, at 64 years old.

She is also one of the most honest voices we've ever had on Women Amplified.

"All of us only have one life. I'm not always about chasing the biggest dreams. I'm about living whatever your decision of living a full life is — and not leaving it with regrets at the end."

In this episode, Diana sits down with Lisa Bennett — our Editorial Director and Women Amplified's new host — to talk about what actually gets in the way of our goals. Not the dramatic obstacles. The quiet ones. The self-doubt, the obligations, the fear of failing that makes it easier to put things off than to begin.

If there's something you've been waiting to start — this one is for you.

Here's something we don't say enough: The version of you from a year ago would be genuinely impressed by who you are right now.

Not because of the promotions or the milestones. Because of the quieter things. The boundary you held without apologizing for it. The step you took before you felt ready. The goal you finally let go of because you were honest enough to admit it was never actually yours.

That kind of growth is real. It's just easy to miss when you're inside it.

Share this with a woman in your life who needs to hear it today — and tell us in the comments: which one hit closest to home? 👇

The "sorry" reflex is real. And a lot of us are working on it.

This week we’re making less apologies for the things that never needed one.

In honor of Mother's Day, we're revisiting this beautiful moment from the 2025 California Conference for Women.

Padma Lakshmi shared a moving reflection on her immigrant mother — a woman who sacrificed endlessly to give her daughter a better life — and how that shaped her own approach to motherhood and to the world. Her mother taught her empathy, curiosity, and the art of truly seeing people.

She also spoke candidly about the push and pull of being a professional woman and a mother — and how leaning into both, even when it's hard, makes her better at each.

To every mom, every daughter, and every woman carrying both — happy Mother's Day. We see you. 🤍✨

This community has always been built on something powerful: women showing up for themselves — and for each other.

Now, we want to show up for you.

We’re taking a moment to listen more closely — to understand what you’re navigating, what you’re working toward, and how Conferences for Women can better support you in the year ahead.

Whether it’s career growth, managing stress, navigating change, or finding more balance and connection — your perspective helps shape what we create next.

It takes just 5 minutes, but it helps us build something much bigger — a community that truly meets you where you are.

As a thank you, one participant will receive:
✨ A 3-pack of virtual coaching sessions with a certified ICF coach (valued at $750)
✨ An Apple iPad (valued at $350)

But more importantly, your voice will help guide what comes next for this community.

You've likely seen her work, even if you don't know her name.

Mary Wells Lawrence was the first woman to own and run a major advertising agency and one of the most influential creative leaders of her time.
She helped redefine advertising making it more emotional, more memorable, and more culturally connected.

Her work didn't just sell products; it changed how brands communicate and how audiences connect with them.

And yet, her name isn't as widely known as the campaigns she helped create.

What's a campaign or brand message that has always stayed with you?

Every time you open a navigation app or follow directions on your phone, you’re using technology built on the work of mathematician Dr. Gladys West.

For decades, her research helped develop the mathematical models that made GPS possible — technology that now guides airplanes, emergency responders, ships, and billions of people around the world.

And yet, many people are just now learning her name.

Throughout Women’s History Month, we’re sharing Women Worth Knowing — innovators and pioneers whose contributions changed the world.

💬 Tell us: whose story do you think deserves more recognition?
