A quick 60 seconds, but a moment that carried real meaning.

At the Houston screening, Alexis Jones caught a quick interview with The King of Trash David Duong for her show "60 Seconds to Fly". Simple, unfiltered, and completely real. No script, no polish, just a conversation that carried the weight of a lifetime.

In that brief moment, you could feel it all, the journey, the resilience, and the purpose behind The King of Trash. Not just a film, but a story shaped by decades of hard work, family, and community impact.

The kind of moment that reminds you why this story continues to resonate in every city we visit.

Sometimes, 60 seconds is all it takes to feel the weight of a journey.

Houston… we’re still taking it all in ❤️

What happened at The King of Trash screening this weekend was more than we ever imagined.

610 RSVPs for a 430-seat theater, completely full, over capacity, and overflowing with energy, excitement, and support.

But what truly moved us wasn’t just the numbers… it was the people.

The ones who showed up early.
The ones who traveled across the city, across state lines, and even across the country, just to be there.
The ones who stayed, connected, shared, and felt the story with us.

That’s something we’ll never forget.

We were deeply honored to be joined by incredible guests: from King of Bling Johnny Dang, Olivia Tutram
Mama Mai, The House of Ho Washington Ho, Celebrity Chef Trong Nguyen, to community leaders, influencers, and friends who showed up with so much support.

And to see the room filled not only with our community, but also U.S. media, local publishers, writers, producers, and filmmakers, it reminded us that this story is reaching further than we ever thought.

This wasn’t just a screening.
It was a moment of pride, connection, and shared identity.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners who made this night possible:
Chef Trong Nguyen & Crawfish & Noodles for bringing people together through food, and the Vuon Texas Community Thơ Thơ Cẩm-Tú for your unwavering support.

Houston, you didn’t just show up, you showed HEARTS!

Dallas, thank you for an incredible evening!

As The King of Trash continues its journey across the country, Dallas marked another meaningful stop on this roadshow to bring the film to audiences nationwide.

We were honored to welcome 130 guests who joined us for the screening, and what made the evening even more special was the effort behind each seat filled. Many traveled from across the region, some driving 45 minutes to over an hour, just to be part of this experience.

That kind of commitment speaks volumes.

From the moment guests arrived to the final conversations after the film, the response was incredibly warm. The story resonated, not just as a film, but as a shared reflection on resilience, family, and the journey of building a legacy.

Each city reminds us that this story reaches beyond one place. It connects with people from different backgrounds, yet touches something deeply familiar.

Grateful for Dallas for showing up with such openness and support.
Next stop, we keep going 🚀

🌸 Lunar New Year: Celebrating Culture, Community & Collective Impact 🌸

As we welcome the Lunar New Year, Vietnamese American Business Association (VABA) is proud to stand alongside our communities, honoring tradition, strengthening connections, and giving back where it matters most.

This year, VABA was honored to support two meaningful Lunar New Year community events:

🎊 A Lunar New Year celebration in San Bernardino, bringing families, local leaders, and community members together in a spirit of renewal and unity.

🧧 A community-led Lunar New Year gathering with Community Partners Advocate of Little Saigon Sacramento in Sacramento, celebrating Vietnamese heritage while uplifting local voices and small businesses.

For VABA, Lunar New Year is more than a holiday it’s a reminder of our roots, our resilience, and our responsibility to give back. Supporting community-driven initiatives across regions reflects our ongoing commitment to cultural preservation, economic empowerment, and long-term community impact.

As we step into the new year, we remain dedicated to building bridges, supporting our partners, and investing in the strength of Vietnamese American communities across California and beyond.

Nearly two weeks after our Orange County screening, the energy from that night is still with us.

What stays the most are the voices from the audience.

We heard people describe the film as powerful, deeply personal, and unexpectedly emotional. Some shared that it brought them to tears. Others said it made them reflect on family, legacy, and their own journey.

The King of Trash sparked conversations long after the credits rolled about resilience, the immigrant experience, hard work, and the belief that anything is possible when you don’t give up.

This film isn’t just something you watch. It’s something you feel and carry with you.

Sharing a short recap from our Irvine pre-screening to relive those moments. 💛

After the film, many shared that they saw their parents’ sacrifices, their own immigrant journey, and their family’s legacy reflected on screen. The conversations didn’t stop when the credits rolled, people stayed, talked, and connected over what the story meant to them.

This wasn’t just a screening. It was a moment of recognition, pride, and shared experience.
