Honoring Barbara: A Life of Service

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Barbara, one of our most decorated and beloved volunteers. Her selfless dedication to helping others and her unwavering compassion touched countless lives in our community.

Barbara’s legacy goes beyond her many awards—it lives in the kindness she spread and the inspiration she gave to us all. Let’s honor her memory by continuing her spirit of service and love.

Rest in peace, Barbara. You will be greatly missed.

On this day, 172 years ago (June 20, 1851), our local newspaper, now known as the Mercury News, was founded.

We are thrilled to announce that thanks to a generous donation, you can now access the complete digital historical archive of the San Jose Mercury News from 1900-1985 – this means you can view the entire newspaper exactly the way it was published during those times.
