SVCN is hiring an Operations + People Manager to support our small, mission-driven team. You'll oversee day-to-day operations including HR, facilities, technology systems, vendor relationships, and finance coordination, reporting directly to our CEO.

This is a great fit if you're someone who’s organized, solutions-oriented, and just as comfortable developing a new process as you are troubleshooting a tech issue or coordinating a staff retreat.

🤖 AI is moving fast. Is your nonprofit ready? Let’s talk about it.

San José is embracing new technology, including AI, and that means a real window of opportunity for nonprofits to get ahead of the risks. Governance, transparency, reporting, and protection aren't just nice-to-haves; they're achievable and necessary steps to safeguard the public.

Join us on Monday, August 3 for a conversation with Alex Hanna, a leading researcher and thinker in AI and tech! Come ready to share the challenges and dilemmas you're navigating with AI, then hear directly from Alex about her work, and stick around for an open, honest conversation about where nonprofits go from here.

The goals of this session are to understand mutual challenges being faced around AI, identify shared values and agreements, note common goals, and find potential actions we can take collectively.

🤝 This event is co-hosted by Working Partnerships USA, Latinas Contra Cancer, and Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits.

Santa Clara County's $787M budget deficit – driven largely by deep federal cuts – is forcing local nonprofits to scale back frontline services, from youth mentorship to domestic violence support to therapy for uninsured residents.

SVCN CEO, Kyra Kazantzis, spoke with San José Spotlight about where the pain is landing hardest: "the most impacted departments and services are in the public health arena, in the behavioral health arena and in prevention services of different sorts, (including) youth."

These aren't abstract line items – they're the programs keeping kids in school, survivors safe, and vulnerable neighbors housed.

Santa Clara County officials attempted to be as strategic as possible with the services they slashed due to a $787 million deficit predominantly caused by deep federal cuts. The shortfall forces nonprofits on the front line to constrict their services.

Step into the Enchanted Forest at SVCN's 19th annual Be Our Guest!

Each year, Be Our Guest brings together nonprofit leaders, community partners, local celebrities, and supporters for an afternoon of connection, celebration, and our signature pumpkin auction featuring one-of-a-kind, creatively decorated pumpkins.

This year's event is especially meaningful as SVCN celebrates 30 years of championing Silicon Valley's nonprofit community. We look forward to gathering with our community to celebrate the impact of the nonprofit sector and the people who make that work possible.

Based on months of community and nonprofit engagement, we are elevating these key themes for consideration in the County's FY27 budget decisions:
✔️ Protect our high impact safety net
✔️ Avoid divestment from prevention and early intervention services
✔️ Preserve nonprofit infrastructure
✔️ Invest in trusted messengers and community connections
✔️ Protect services that prevent homelessness, hospitalization, and incarceration
✔️ Maintain meaningful community engagement in decision-making

We call on the Board of Supervisors to:
• Avoid eliminating entire community based service lines
• Provide thoughtful off-ramps for heavily impacted nonprofit partners
